The Wente Winery is a great venue. The evening was windy, especially on stage, however, Diana Krall handled it graciously and humorously. The music was marvelous, the quartet was great, the sets marvelous. Diana needs to vary her reprotaire some, although her songbook is probably what most want to hear. She needs to add a few new pieces in the same genre. The food was excellent, unusual for a buffet and the service first rate. We'll do it again and often.Written on Aug 14 2009

This was a very special night for me and my friends. Diana has a lovely voice and I really enjoyed seeing(hearing, of course as well) her play the piano. She has a wonderful trio backing her up. I also enjoyed how personable she was on stage.Written on Aug 14 2009
The vineyard was an outstanding backdrop for the jazz and the meteor shower.
The chairs were ok for us but for big people, I think they might be a bit flimsy.

Description
Diana Krall, for the few still unknowing, is the sensation whose cool, heavy-lidded vocals and strikingly sensitive piano playing has helped her transcend barriers of genre to become a popular artist of the first order; one who has carved herself a permanent position at the top of the jazz charts. Born into a musical family, her father is a stride style pianist, Krall has music running through her veins and her soul. In songs, mood and delivery, From This Moment On reveals Krall’s personal ardor for that golden era of song-making, when Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald were in their prime. It’s musical territory that Krall has often explored, but this album was certainly not a case of simply repeating past formulas. Krall has said of the album, “It reflects how I’m feeling now, the joy that I have in my marriage and family, and hopefully in the future.”
About the Ticket Supplier: Wente Vineyards
After learning about winemaking from Charles Krug, C. H. Wente, a first-generation immigrant from Germany, founded his own winery in 1883. Recognizing that the warm days, cool nights and gravelly soils of the Livermore Valley were ideal for growing grapes, he purchased 48 acres and planted vineyards. In 1918, C. H. Wente's sons Ernest and Herman joined the business, with Ernest managing the vineyards and Herman acting as winemaker. The company was later passed on to Ernest's only son Karl, and in 1977, Karl's young son Eric took the helm. Continuing the 125 year legacy, the winery is managed today by the Fourth Generation of the Wente family, Eric, Philip, Carolyn, and the Fifth Generation, Christine and Karl. The winery has grown to include over 2,000 acres of vineyards in the Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay and 800 acres in Arroyo Seco, Monterey.
