This venue was absolutely beautiful not to mention the very attentive staff on site. The buffet was delicious and it was nice to have "leisure" time during dinner before the show. We did not feel rushed at all. B-52's are always entertaining and we enjoyed this event very much. Thanks Goldstar for making this possible to attend at a reasonable price.

The venue at Wente was terrific and the dance floor was filled with enthusiastic dancers. The music brought us back in time and the group sounded just as great as they did 20 years ago! Our teen-age boys, who were apprehensive, enjoyed the show and recognized several of the songs.

More Information About The B-52s

Description

It has been said that the B-52s are as quintessentially American as the Beach Boys. Twenty-five years and over twenty million albums into their career, the B-52s remain among the most beloved rock stars ever. Formed on an October night in 1976 following drinks at an Athens, GA, Chinese restaurant, the band played their first gig at a friend’s house on Valentine’s Day in 1977. Naming themselves after Southern slang for exaggerated ‘bouffant” hairdos, the newly christened B-52s (Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, Cindy Wilson and Ricky Wilson) began weekend road trips to New York City for gigs at CBGB’s and a handful of other venues. In just two albums, the B-52s created a lexicon of songs, styles, phrases and images, which would set the standard for the development of the ‘alternative music scene’ for the next decade.

Following the loss of founding member Ricky Wilson in 1985, the group rebounded with their triumphant 1989 smash Cosmic Thing, which spawned the Top 10 hits “Love Shack” and “Roam.” The album proved to be the greatest commercial achievement for the group, and its success propelled the band to international superstars. The B-52s advanced their reputation as the greatest party band on the planet to a whole new generation of music fans. Funplex, the first record of the 21st century from the B-52s, is “loud, sexy rock and roll, with the beat pumped up to hot pink,” says guitarist Keith Strickland.

About the Ticket Supplier: Wente Vineyards

After learning about winemaking from Charles Krug, C. H. Wente, a first-generation immigrant from Germany, founded his own winery in 1883. Recognizing that the warm days, cool nights and gravelly soils of the Livermore Valley were ideal for growing grapes, he purchased 48 acres and planted vineyards. In 1918, C. H. Wente's sons Ernest and Herman joined the business, with Ernest managing the vineyards and Herman acting as winemaker. The company was later passed on to Ernest's only son Karl, and in 1977, Karl's young son Eric took the helm. Continuing the 125 year legacy, the winery is managed today by the Fourth Generation of the Wente family, Eric, Philip, Carolyn, and the Fifth Generation, Christine and Karl. The winery has grown to include over 2,000 acres of vineyards in the Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay and 800 acres in Arroyo Seco, Monterey.
