Adapted from both Tim Burton's celebrated film and the Daniel Wallace novel of the same name, Musical Theatre West reels in the West Coast premiere of the musical Big Fish, the dreamy, touching story of a tall-tale-teller and his son, who wants to know who his father really is. Following a lifetime of spinning made-up yarns of epic adventures, Edward Bloom has entered his final chapter, compelling his son Will to embark on an adventure of his own -- to unravel his real dad from the myths he has created. With music and lyrics by Tony nominee Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family) and a book by acclaimed screenwriter John August (Go, Charlie's Angels), this rollicking fantasy set in the American South is a tribute to the power of dreaming big. The parking is very disorganized at MTW. Be sure to allow time going in and getting out. On the Atherton side, they are usually line up into the street. It appears there is only one line, but there is normally two. There is just no sign or person to let you know . You may see someone a block away swing their arms, if anything.'S Wonderful info • Apr 21 2014 star this tip starred

Twenty-seven years of dominating United States formation dancing has given the Brigham Young University Ballroom Dance Company a reputation for excellence throughout the world. The BYU Ballroom Dance Company brings its award-winning dance showcase to the Carpenter Center at Cal State Long Beach.
Audiences of a BYU Ballroom Dance Company performance are treated to a spectacular variety of dances, including gliding waltzes reminiscent of a royal ball, playful swing dances hearkening back to a 1950s sock hop, and dramatic high-energy dances of the Latin style. The dancers keep the audience engaged as they demonstrate their diverse talents, moving the showcase smoothly between elegant formation routines and fast-paced rhythmic pieces.
Most recently, the Company completed a tour in May 2009, extensively crossing the United States from Utah to Massachusetts and south to Washington D.C. In June 2008, the Ballroom Dance Company took their “Capture the Magic” showcase to Hong Kong and China. A highlight of the tour was participation in the opening of the 2008 Cultural Olympic Festival, occurring only six weeks prior to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
In the competitive arena, Ballroom Dance Company has an extensive and successful history. In September 2009 the dancers competed in the Embassy Ball, an annual ballroom dance competition in Irvine, Calif., where the team once again won the United States National Formation Championships—a title it has held since 1982.
Lee and Linda Wakefield, the artistic directors of the Ballroom Dance Company, both hold memberships in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance and have degrees in Standard and Latin dancing. The husband-and-wife pair has inspired a 28-year pursuit of excellence in the company.
The Ballroom Dance Company originates in the Department of Dance of the College of Fine Arts and Communications at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. BYU is one of the nation’s largest private universities with an enrollment of more than 30,000 full-time students from throughout the United States and 120 foreign countries.
