Description

A play with music, Hattie tells the inside story of Hattie McDaniel, America's first Black Oscar winner. She fought for the role of "Mammy" in Gone With The Wind, but the part brought unexpected turmoil into her life.

The Long Beach Comber says: "Originating and inhabitating Hattie's theatrical being is Carla Drew, who does an amazing job of transporting us into Hattie's world, as does the entire stellar cast. Director Spencer Scott and his cast and crew are to be congratulated for bringing the talented Mr. Blinn's words to life."

Playwright William Blinn has been awarded several Emmy, Golden Globe and Writers Guild Awards for such productions as Brian's Song, Roots and Fame.
