Herradura Anejo – Añejo, or “aged,” tequila is crafted by aging two years (twice as long as category standards suggest) in white oak barrels. Its refined taste is the product of this meticulous care and entices with cooked agave, nutty notes, spices, dried fruit and toasted oak.
Herradura Reposado – The first Reposado, or “rested,” tequila, Herradura invented the category in 1974 with this excellent concoction. Rested for 11months (nine more than category standards), this extremely smooth tequila achieves a perfect balance of wood, fruity notes, cinnamon, vanilla and a hint of spice.
Then things get exciting featuring two tequilas that are in limited release and not available in stores and you should call yourself lucky if you were able to find these at a local bar.
Herradura Cognac Cast – Uniquely crafted using traditional production methods and a proprietary fermentation from naturally-occurring wild yeast. The tequila is then aged to perfection in American oak barrels for 11 months and is transferred to French oak casks sourced from the historic Cognac region for an additional three months. The finest aged tequila is highlighted by the balance of earthy and spice notes with a touch of smoke and fruit.
Herradura Port Cask – The Port Cask is the first of its kind in a series of unique styles of tequila. Using the finest blue agave, traditional production methods and a proprietary fermentation from naturally occurring wild yeast to create a tequila of unparalleled quality. The tequila is then rested in medium-char American oak casks for eleven months and then transferred to hand-selected vintage port casks from the renowned Duoro Valley in Portugal for an additional two months of aging which creates the distinctive taste of oak aged agave complemented by hints of rich port, plum and pepper.
Queen Mary Double Barrel Reposado – This barrel will be unique to the Queen Mary – as no two barrels are alike. Aged 11 months in a bourbon barrel and then in a brand new barrel for another month, offering a unique taste and flavor and only available if you happen to purchase an entire barrel. They did.
Tequila expert Ruben Aceves will share his passion and knowledge on each tequila.
Based in Guadalajara, Mexico, Ruben Aceves serves as Director, International Brand Development for Casa Herradura where he oversees the development of Tequila Herradura and el Jimador. In this role, Ruben educates sales teams and other individuals who work on the brands to understand the essence of the products while also covering the history and heritage of Casa Herradura. While Ruben wears multiple hats, he is often referred as our tequila brand ambassador because of his deep knowledge for tequila and the history of Casa Herradura. Fluent in Spanish and English, Ruben brings a wealth of knowledge and vast experience to the Casa Herradura team. The Majestic 140 year old Tequila Herradura Home Place at Amatitan, which gets some 60,000 visitors a year is just another of Ruben´s rolls at BF. Since 2000, Ruben has served as International Sales Director and was a Board Member for Casa Herradura. Ruben is a proud native of Guadalajara, Mexico and holds an MBA degree.
