Musical Theatre West Brings Spamalot to Long Beach

- $26.50 - $34.00
Musical Theatre West brings its 59th season to a close with one of the funniest shows on Earth, Monty Python's Spamalot. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Spamalot lovingly rips off the film classic Monty Python and The Holy Grail to tell the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their epic quest. However, diverting a bit from the real story, this hilarious musical features such oddities as a line of beautiful dancing girls, flatulent Frenchmen and killer rabbits. A cast of professional actors from the Broadway, Hollywood and national tours, as well as the best in local talent, will perform the show with the original Broadway sets and costumes. Learn More

This is an excellent movie. I was surprised at the relatively small attendance. It's a nice venue, too. The portrayal of Beethoven is real without the Hollywood hype. I particularly like the direct quotes from his own journals and letters. The music is great but I would prefer that they not pull away from it at key points for more narration. There's no doubt that Beethoven's life was a struggle but his music speaks for itself. The price was unbeatable!Written on Oct 19 2010

This was an excellent production, visually, artistically and historically. I enjoyed it very much and have much more of an understanding of the life and times of one of my favorite composers.Written on Oct 18 2010

Excellent film about the life and works of Beethoven. His story is told through voice-over, and there are wonderful insights about him and his music provided by conductors, musicians and historians. Throughout the film, there is glorious music provided by superb musicians. My only negative comments relate to some of the camera work which at times provided poor, and even dizzying, views of a performing violinist with a fixed position camera, often giving views of empty space, plus some attempts at "artistic" blurring for effect that didn't work out well. Most of the photography was fine, with these few exceptions.Written on Oct 18 2010
