Washington, D.C.'s Grammy Award-winning Sweet Honey in the Rock a cappella group comes to Carpenter Performing Arts Center at CSULB, bringing its unique blend of spirituals, traditional gospel hymns, rap, reggae, African chants, hip-hop and jazz improvisation, intermingled with R&B and soul. Creating unforgettable original music from the rich textures of African-American legacy and traditions, Sweet Honey in the Rock's stunning vocal prowess has been amazing audiences for almost 40 years. In that time, more than 20 women have lent their talents to the group. The current lineup features six acclaimed performers, including two original ensemble members and a sign language interpreter.

VERY ENJOYABLE EVENT. THEIR WAS A TREMENDOUS ENERGY IN THE AUDITORIUM AND THE PLACE ROCKED WITH SOUL. WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND TRAVEL TIME TO GET THERE.

Sweet Honey in the Rock are an amazing a capella group who transcend time and space with their unique harmonies and full sound. It is amazing what five women and an interpreter can do with voices (and signs) to make it so accessible to anyone. The joy emanating from the ladies is palpable!

The show was Excellent, I loved hearing those "OLD" Negro spirituals I appreciated the age range of the ladies.The show lived up to my high expectations..
