This was an afterschool musical come to life. The performers were all 13 and 14 and their talent and enthusiasm rubbed off on the audience immediately.
To me the most exciting thing was the number of teenagers in the audience. Getting them into the theater for a great experience is what will keep the theater alive.
It was just a very, very fun evening.

A fanatastic show, energetically and professionally handled by 13 kids around the age of 13. What a great way to introduce your kids to musical theater or just enjoy an evening of wonderful songs by Jason Robert Brown.

It was a wonderful night out. The Mark Taper Forum is a great theater with excellent views throughout the theater. The Music Center atmosphere is always a festive place for dinner and a play. I had a nice evening enjoying the kids of 13 perform.

Description

In a middle school in Appleton, Indiana thirteen 13 year olds leap from childhood into a whole new fantastic and frightening era: their teens. Like kids everywhere, they suddenly are trying to survive classes, navigate cliques and be in with the right crowd and “cool”. In 100 song-filled minutes 13 is their provoking, engaging story, told with contagious energy and humor with all-teen performers and a teen band.

"The best and the worst and the most and the least
And the crazy and the scary
And I'm standing on the edge!"

Tony Award-winner Jason Robert Brown has composed the songs for this new musical comedy--smart, magnetic, and upbeat--sure to speak to and captivate current, former, and soon to be teens.
