A Song for Vanya is based on the classic play Uncle Vanya by Antonin Chekhov. With stirring emotion and sweeping, epic music, Chekhov’s melancholic story journeys into the hearts of a colorful but dysfunctional family. The story centers on a retired professor who moves back into his long-abandoned rural home, where his presence, and that of his lovely young wife, disrupts the normal order of life for the residents of the household.
A Song for Vanya debuted to sold-out crowds last April at the Spotlight Theatre in Bakersfield and is now opening at Theater/Theatre in Los Angeles.
