Legendary jazz impresario Norman Granz is famed for organizing the first desegregated jazz jam sessions at the Philharmonic Auditorium in L.A, leading to a series of successful concerts. Now on the 65th anniversary of that first event, and as a new Granz biography is released, entitled The Man Who Used Jazz for Justice, the Ebony Repertory Theatre presents a rousing jam session salute featuring musicians John Beasley, piano; Jeff Clayton, sax; Ernie Andrews, vocals; Marvin "Smitty" Smith, drums; Bennie Maupin, sax; Jacques Lesure, guitar; Edwin Livingston, bass; Nolan Shaheed, trumpet; Richard Grant, trumpet, and many more.
