Singer-songwriter Aimee Mann brings the merry back to the Wiltern for the sixth year in a row, performing classic Yuletide tunes, along with many of her hits, and welcoming special guests including her husband Michael Penn ("No Myth"), a singer and musician himself, as well as comedian Paul F. Tompkins, musician and comic Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job), comedian and actor Andy Daly (Eastbound and Down), and singer-songwriter Nellie McKay. Mann first became famous as lead singer of Til' Tuesday ("Voices Carry"), then received wide acclaim for her Oscar and Grammy-nominated soundtrack to Paul Thomas Anderson's film Magnolia and for her live performances at L.A.'s Largo nightclub. Mann's well-received 2006 Christmas album, One More Drifter in the Snow, features holiday standards, along with a pair of original compositions, including one by Penn.

I enjoyed the show, especially the old 'Wobbly' union anthem sung by Aimee Mann and Michael Penn that was most famously sung by Al Jolson in the 1933 movie 'Hallelujah, I'm a Bum.'

This was our first time attending an Aimee Mann concert. We really enjoyed her quirky humor, lovely singing and low key energy. The show started thirty minutes late and ended before 10:30, so we thought it was a bit short for a concert. The Wiltern is a good place for this kind of event: comfortable and with good seating.

Maybe my expectations were too great but I was somehow disappointed. The show did have a couple of funny moments, but overall felt totally unfinished and short. I think that it is overrated.
