Program A 2pm

Annointed
The Hunt
The Evolution of a Secured Feminine
Revelations

The Good: A Solid Program performed by the company. Good lines and footwork, everyone looked sharp in movement, not a single sloppy dancer.

The Bad: The Evolution of a Secured Feminine wasn't a real Calibre piece for me. It was modern music yes, but it lacked a showcase for the solo dancer. Where was the hybrid of modern dance and ballet. Where was the isolation pop and lock with Tombe Grand Jete.
The Hunt: Was also another piece that wasnt as strong. I hate to say it but how many times did they do the same movement through out the piece.

The Ugly Truth: Program A was a Good blend, but i would have like to seen Program B: All Ailey
Revelations is a Classic! Its the very few pieces that never grows old or tired. Revelations no matter how performed always looks fresh, clean and timeless.

The Bottom Line: To watch Ballet and Modern Dance is always a great showcase for the Art of Movement. But Alvin Ailey is a experience and dare i say it a defining moment in your life to watch. If you only have one chance to see Ballet or modern Dance, Alvin Ailey is the work to see.

PS: Judith Jamison: "Forgotten Time" is Timeless as well. Google it!

The seats were amazing as was the preformances. It was done in three acts. The company there wasn't large, but every dancer was amazing. The audio visual piece before the third act provides context and a historical reference for what is about to be seen. It was by far my favorite.

I would advise to be on-time as they really do close the doors to the theatre and hold late arrivals until intermission. Valet parking is $23.00, but if you're runnung last (I was), then it will save you a lot of time, although they do make you pay first at the kiosk. Will call went really quickly, but leave yourself time. Food and snacks are really expensive. I had a coke and a very small (under 3 oz) of nuts for $8.50. Check the theatre to verify if they are holding workshops before/during/after the performance. While we didn't participate, it was really fun to watch.
