Billy Collins' poetry is entertaining. Billy Collins reading Billy Collins' poetry is simply wonderful. His poetry is deceptive: the poems appear to be merely anti-pretentious, whimsical, simple, down-to-earth and very funny. But read between the lines, allow the poetry to detour around your mind, to reach directly into your heart, and suddenly the poems are powerfully touching, with the capacity to wake you from your sleep, enabling you to see and feel the world around you in a new way. Bravo, Billy.

An exciting evening--seldom do we get the opportunity to hear a past poet laureate read his own work. The written poetic voice has a different timbre when read by its creator. Collins is an excellent observer of much that is both satiric and completely laughable. Nothing like his "Ohmygod" to remind the audience of how we sound to others. A talented, gifted poet and reader.
