The GRAMMY Museum welcomes renowned multi-instrumentalist Edgar Winter to the museum's Clive Davis Theater for a discussion with GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli, and audience Q&A session and a performance of selected songs. Winter, never afraid to diversify his sound, broke the mold of classic blues-rock, synthesizing it with jazz rhythms and pop influences. Winter came to fame in the early '70s with his number three album They Only Come Out at Night and the number one single "Frankenstein," which he later reworked for the soundtrack to Wayne's World II, as well as the ever-popular "Free Ride."

if you have never been to the grammy theater then you have been missing out on one of L.A.'s hidden gems. located in the heart of los angeles it not only has a beautiful museaum based on the music industry but also a thirteen row (clive davis) theater where shows are presented on different artists from throughout the years.
last night was edgar winter. he is the younger brother of the blues great johnny winter for those who are not familiar. he broke into the music scene back in the late 60's early 70's by playing back up with his brother johnny's band. venturing out on his own he made time lasting hits such as frankenstein and free ride. coming to the stage with a trmendous smile on his face and a belly full of stories the night never once seemed to slow down. he ended the night with four of his greatest songs, dying to live, frankenstein, tobacco road and of course free ride.
was it worth it? damn right it was!!

Description

The GRAMMY Museum is pleased to welcome renowned multi-instrumentalist Edgar Winter to the Clive Davis Theater. A child prodigy who achieved international success early on, Winter has found an audience in every major entertainment medium - music, film and television. A prolific writer, as seen in classic rock hits such as “Free Ride,” Winter's music encompasses many different genres, including rock, jazz, blues and pop. From his critically acclaimed 1970 debut album, Entrance, he has demonstrated his unique style and ability to cross the genre lines.  Having written and performed the international, instrumental hit “Frankenstein,” he was also the first to use a synthesizer on a hit record. His song “Dying to Live,” is featured in the film Tupac Resurrection, the biography on the life of rapper Tupac Shakur and was produced by Eminem.  Winter continues to thrill audiences with his live performances, always remaining on the cutting edge of music and style. Hear Winter in discussion with GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli. After the interview, Winter will take audience questions and perform a selection of songs.
