Two men, one an artist and the other a mysterious stranger, strike up a seemingly innocent conversation at a seaside resort. As they exchange increasingly intimate perspectives on art, marriage and women -- in particular, the artist's wife -- undercurrents of sexuality, language and economics explode into a tangled web of intrigue, suspicion and revenge in this gripping 19th-century psychological thriller. Deliciously dark and funny, this co-production with the New American Theatre of August Strindberg's Creditors is a story of vengeance, jealousy and psychological warfare that helped pave the way for modern Scandinavian noir. 4 thumbs up - GO! We had previously seen this show in SF, but hardly recognized it - even though we liked it well enough the first time. Great acting, great set, well-written piece. Covers a range of emotions, just like life.... (Tip: be sure to eat something first since they actually cook on stage - drool!)
Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman star in Annapurna written by Sharr White and directed by Bart DeLorenzo. After twenty years apart, Emma tracks Ulysses to a trailer park in the middle of nowhere. What unfolds is a visceral, profound and sometimes funny meditation on love and loss with the simplest of theatrical elements: two people in one room.
