Having a docent taking you on your own private tour as opposed to walking around on your own was the ideal way to experience this exhibit. Our docent had been a costumer herself and added many wonderful facts we would have never discovered. What's more, she had really researched all the material in the exhibit and knew her stuff. Very nice...I highly recommend it!

You can go and see all those costumes without the tour, but the information you get from the tour guide makes all those costumes and movies more interesting. We felt that we want to see those movies again and to pay more attention to all the details. If you like movies - great experience!!!

This was a pretty nice way to spend a lazy morning. It didn't take too long and the guides were suprisingly knowledgeable. There were a lot of interesting facts and there were 22 movies they covered. Even though the venue is free, you definitely need the guide - there really aren't any signs on the display with interesting info (only who designed and who wore). The guide was really good though; enthousiastic but not annoying and she seemed very experienced (not like it was the first time leading a group). The only drawback was that some people who didn't pay just 'joined' the group and followed along.

The tour is definitely worth it. They tell you tidbits from the movie including behind the scene stories. The only bummer was that the only reason I took my girls was to be able to see Johnny Depp's Sweeny Todd costume and he was missing from the Sweeney Todd display that day. The guide said he was there up to that day but was removed for some reason. Other than that- it was really fun!

I thought the costumes were fascinating and the guide was very knowledgeable. We also enjoyed the clips of the movies and the gift shop. Parking was free right below so, all in all, it was a great experience.

Definitely worth taking the tour, especially if you are a movie fan! The guide had lots of interesting "insider" tidbits. My only complaint would be
that the tour guide needed to speak up louder so we could all hear her.

The museum is free but this tour has a charge. Well worth the cost. You get so much more out of the tour versus just walking through and reading the cards under each costume.

Exhibit was really interesting and glad that I purchased the guided tour through Goldstar instead of just going on my own. Learned so much more with a guide who had lots of details/info on each piece. Thanks Goldstar for offering this event!

A lot of people tell you it's worth it although it's free admission to the museum anyway. Trust me, you would know nothing from reading placards alone. The only information is which character/actor wore the outfit and a writeup on the costumer. There are no other details without taking this tour. The guides are super friendly, very knowledgable and have scads of tidbits about the making of the costumes, how many copies were made, why fabrics were chosen, how it relates to the character/scene, how difficult it was to fabricate/wear/mend. This collection cannot be adequately viewed without the tour. Also, free parking on weekends right underneath the bldg, entrance on 9th.

The guide did a great job and I liked the variety of costumes. Naturally, my favorites were the green dress from "Atonement" and the things from "Enchanted". Obviously, my daughter and I love "chick flicks".

I thought the guides were very knowledgeable and it was reat to have the around, but considering that it was a free exhibit, the price was a little too high. I felt that at half-price it would have been about right.

I found out that this exhibition is available to view free, but having the guide give us all the background information was really worth the small fee. Just walking through without a guide wouldn't have been nearly as interesting.

I would never have known about this delightful event if it hadn't been featured on Goldstar. My friend and I found the docent-led tour so interesting. It was great to be part of a small (~10) group - we could hear the docent but not be a distraction to other people at the exhibit. The background stories she told about the costumes and the movies were fun to listen to. I enjoyed her enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge.

It was very nice, my friend and I enjoyed it. The tour guide was great, very informative. The costumes were amazing, very fun! HOWEVER, the one draw back was the two security guys inside the museum. They had no manners, got in the way of viewers (one practically joined our tour for a period of time and stood in the way of paying guests), and when asked to leave because the museum was closing down, it was done in such a rude way, that it was extremely uncomfortable and odd. Needless to say, it left a very bad taste in both my friends mouth and mine. As we were departing, we should have been talking about the costumes, but instead we talked about how rude the security guards were!!!!

My tour guide was very well informed about the costumes and able to reveal all sorts of interesting details that certainly weren't on any of the display cards. It made the tour quite memorable and special. I liked it so much I actually tipped her $20 for two of us, which wasn't expected (by her or me!) but I just like to reward extraordinary service.

Our guide was really great. She had little interesting trivial notes about the costume designers and fabrics and the movie industry. Really was great to have someone who had been a costume designer herself. Would go again.

There were about 15 of us for an hour tour. We saw costumes from Oscar nominated movies. The docent was quite knowledgeable and provided pictures we could look at during the tour to enhance it. I talked with the docent afterward and she had a background in museum docent guidance.

It was nice to be in a small group so we could ask questions or make comments. Great to be able to see the clothes that were actually worn by the movie stars up close.

Although the exhibit was great, the tour guide was not! The tour guide was totally unprepared. She was reading off of notes, had no personality or seemingly prior knowledge of the exhibit. This made the tour boring and worst of all, time-consuming. Another thing that made the presentation lousy is that she only had notes about the film. She had NO knowledge about the costumes themselves: information about the fabrics, the period of the costumes or just general descriptions were omitted. Was very dissappointed and would not take a tour with Quick Culture again.

Having the guided tour provided the benefit of a lot of "inside" information and anecdontes that you wouldn't have known otherwise. Our guide was friendly, knowledgable, and professional. Really a joy to see this exhibit. Can't wait until they do the costumes from the Emmy's this summer.

It was great. I loved hearing the behind the scene facts about what goes into making a costume and how many are needed. The efforts of costume design go unrecognized to often. I'm going to see it again!

I took my 9 and 6 year old daughters, who are both very into fashion design, to the costume tour and they loved it. The tour guide, Charlotte, provided lots of interesting information about the creation of the costumes and was wonderful at tailoring the information to her audience. Lasted about an hour, which was just right.
