Winner of the 1967 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance is a sharp, witty examination of a dysfunctional American family. Agnes and Tobias, a long-married suburban couple, find the delicate balance of their existence threatening to topple when they wind up with a house full of uninvited guests, including an alcoholic sister, an adult daughter fresh off her fourth marriage, and two lifelong friends seeking sanctuary from an unnamed terror. Pushed to their breaking point, the couple's many well-mannered and well-masked feelings finally erupt. Two-time Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Susan Sullivan (Castle) and David Selby (Dark Shadows) star in this searing work, directed by Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award winner Robin Larsen. The story was simple and not particularly engaging. There was really only one actor on stage, the other a writer who didn't realize that, even though one can write a script, one might need to cast an experienced actor in the role.
