Very clever, very funny, and very entertaining. You start watching the puppets and ignoring the puppeteers after a while and really get into the whole thing. The songs are just hysterical ("The Internet is for Porn", "It Sucks to be Me", etc...)

Fornicating Muppet's! What could be better? A totally unique performance that had me rolling but the prude next to me huffed and puffed her displeasure.
Adult situations should read what adults don't tell juveniles and what juveniles know but don't tell adults.
Wonderfully anti P.C. and a true pleasure.

Description

Avenue Q tells the hilarious story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q; still, the neighbors seem nice. There's Brian the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fianceé Christmas Eve; Nicky, the good-hearted slacker, and his roommate Rod--a Republican investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate. Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Avenue Q
features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty, based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx; and is directed by Jason Moore; puppet design by Rick Lyon, musical supervision by Stephen Oremus, choreography by Ken Roberson, scenic design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Mirena Rada, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by Acme Sound Partners.

Avenue Q is produced by Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman, Jeffrey Seller, Vineyard Theatre and The New Group.

In addition to the Tony Award for Best Musical, the show won Tonys for its creators Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx for Best Score, as well as Jeff Whitty for Best Book of a Musical. It also won the 2003 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding New Musical, as well as a nomination for the 2003 Outer Critics Circle Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical award.
