This was a Valentine's gift to my husband, and it went over like gangbusters. Since he's a fan of eccentrics, quirky architecture, and LA lore, the tour totally delivered the goods. The guides have an infectious love for this stuff, and present it with personality and flair. We loved the Triple Seafood and Pumpkin and Pork dumplings in Monster Park. And we'll be checking out the other favorite Asian greasy spoons that they list in the tour program.

I really learned a lot while on this tour. I work in the El Monte area (which was heavily featured during the tour) and was fascinated by all the local lore in this area. As well, the dumplings were 2 die 4!! I wouldn't say that it's worth the $60 price tag, however, it's well worth the $30 I paid on Goldstar. Great find!!

A criminal and gastronomical excursion into the San Gabriel Valley with the award-winning Esotouric team, Blood & Dumplings rolls through Alhambra, Temple City, Monterey Park, Rosemead and El Monte, revealing dozens of weird, forgotten crimes and oddities from the valley's past. Highlights include the lesbian couple whose bickering over spending cash resulted in one pumping the other full of downers until she died, the young bride who spent her wedding day buried under her parents' house, the battling neo-Nazis of El Monte, Phil Spector's spooky castle and the little bar where James Ellroy's murdered mother Jean had her last drink. Tour snacks include a complementary selection of dumplings from one of the San Gabriel Valley's best Chinese restaurants, the Jonathan Gold favorite 101 Noodle Express.
