Using dance, video, images and text, world renowned contemporary choreographer David Roussève creates a new coming-of-age story for the Twitter generation with his latest commissioned work, Stardust. A touring show performed by Roussève's long-running multicultural dance theatre troupe, REALITY, Stardust is a glimpse into the life of a gay African-American teenager who appears only through his unanswered texts, which are projected on screen. Dancers weave jazz-inflected movements with storytelling techniques around the texts to create an immersive experience unlike any other that explores the evolving nature of intimacy in our technology-driven world. 9 of us drove to eat at Korean BBQ, in Korea town, that took us about 10 min or so to arrive to. If your in such a large group I suggest breaking it up in two to be seated much faster, also read rules as restuarant we sat at charged for meat left over by the pound? We also ended choosing the 9.99 menue each and somehow ended up paying a $20 gratuity fee, that unless it was written in Korean we did not know about prior, nor told about. This turned out to be less than what we normally would have tipped., hidden fees are just not fun.Marat Daukayev Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker dining • Dec 20 2013 star this tip starred

In one word: avant-garde!
These modern dance performers push the boundaries of movement, incorporating non-traditional lines, tumbling, leaps, lifts, gestures, mimicry and even facial expressions.
I brought my 13-year-old daughter, a dancer, to show her that hip-hop is not the only relevant style of dance in the world today. Halfway through the 1st act, I was worried that she simply wouldn't "get" the unusual performance. But my daughter surprised me with her eager appreciation of the dance pieces. In fact, she recommended that I give this event 5 Stars in my review, which illustrates that children are often more open and accepting than adults give them credit for!
I am deducting 1 star for the music in the very 1st piece (a very experimental track consisting of grating clicks and noises, with no rhythm or melody whatsoever). While I'm very liberal in my musical tastes, I felt that this particular choice was a distracting element in the dance. It made my husband uncomfortable enough that he said he disliked watching the 1st performance, even though the actual dancing in it was superb!
But all together, this was an unusual and very interesting experience, and I hope to see more dance events on Goldstar in the future!
PS: Please don't wear "loud" perfume or cologne to a performance where you will be sitting intimately close to other audience members. My neighbor's fragrance distracted me throughout the entire show....
