Boston Symphony Orchestra comes to Walt Disney Hall for a rare Los Angeles appearance. Established in 1881, his orchestra is one of the oldest and greatest musical institutions in the country. This revered ensemble is joined by virtuoso violinist Gil Shaham and his 1699 Stradivarius violin, the "Comtesse de Polignac." Shaham will appear for Brahms' towering Violin Concerto, a technically demanding piece that requires incredible skill from the violinist. The evening also features Harbison's Symphony No. 4, commissioned by the Seattle Symphony in 2003 and Ravel's pastoral Daphnis and Chloe, Suite No. 2.
