Peter and the Starcatcher, the multiple Tony Award-winning show that The New York Times called "the most exhilarating storytelling on Broadway in decades," is the swashbuckling, madcap prequel to Peter Pan. A dozen actors play more than 100 characters, combining their acting talent with ingenious stagecraft and an imaginative story to reveal the origins of "the boy who wouldn't grow up." The musical play takes a hilarious romp through the Neverland you never knew in an action-packed adventure that brings pirates, orphans and secret agents of the Queen together on the high seas. Based on the bestselling novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, and written by Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), Peter and the Starcatcher boasts an all-star creative team and weaves an enchanting tale that appeals to both adults and kids. My expectations were exceeded for this musical! Sure, it was cheesy, but that's what "Bring It On" is all about. The dancing/cheer-leading routines were fun and the songs, once the main character got to the rival high school, were catchy.
Quotes & Highlights
Bring It On: The Musical is the explosive new musical comedy that raises the stakes on over-the-top high school rivalries. Set against the world of competitive cheerleading, this powerhouse new show hilariously proves that winning isn't everything when it means losing something -- or someone -- you really care about.
This all-new, original musical comedy combines an exciting new sound, gravity-defying choreography, and a thrilling story to create a show worth cheering for. It's "guaranteed to be everything you wished for, nothing like you expected, but exactly what you will love" (AOL.com). Game On!
The team behind this musical is an extraordinarily rare union of Broadway's most acclaimed, award-winning young creators. With an original book by Tony Award-winner Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), music and lyrics by Tony Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights), music by Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt Next to Normal and lyrics by Broadway lyricist Amanda Green (High Fidelity), this wholly original new musical is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler (In the Heights).
