It's everyone's favorite boy-meets-girl, plant-eats-world love story: Little Shop of Horrors. Take a musical journey through the streets of Skid Row to a struggling flower shop where a blood-thirsty plant from another world eagerly awaits its next victim. Seductive, tragic and full of delightfully demented humor, this long-running Off-Broadway musical comedy is based on Roger Corman's B-movie and was later turned into a Broadway show and an Academy Award-nominated film starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. Now the intimate Cupcake Theater stages this campy classic with book and lyrics from Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, the legendary team behind the scores for Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Enjoy a night of bloody good fun with doo-wop inspired songs like "Skid Row," "Somewhere That's Green," "Feed Me" and "Suddenly, Seymour." Learn More

The Freud is a wonderfully intimate playhouse, and Brian Stokes Mitchell filled every space in that theater with joy and wonder. He is obviously a very gifted singer, but it was such a treat to get to see the humble and reflective side of the performer. In addition, his piano accompaniment was wonderful and the lighting design was lovely as well. If you get the chance to see this man perform live, don't pass it up!
