Once began as a music-fueled indie film that won the nation's heart in 2006, taking home the Best Original Song Oscar for its haunting love ballad "Falling Slowly." Now, Once has taken the Broadway stage by storm, earning eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The romantic tale follows a downtrodden Dublin street musician and a delightfully quirky Czech woman who meet in the least likely of places -- a vacuum cleaner repair shop. Their complicated lives make the path to love a rocky one, and they channel their feelings into the music they produce together -- him on guitar, her on piano, two voices harmonizing and setting them free, for a time, from the harsh realities of their lives. Bronzeville was fantastic! A great American and world history experience I will never forget. The actors were superb!!! The support crew also did a fine job with the set, costumes, lighting and seating for the limited space provided for the show. Lastly, the Los Angeles Theatre Center staff (Lesley and Rachel) and Bronzeville's director and producer (Ben Guillory) welcomed and treated guests with hospitality that matched the evenings excellent performance.
