This visually inventive show is sure to transform the audience's notions of what a puppet show is. Jacinto Canek, a young Mayan warrior, befriends Guy, the young descendant of Yucateco landowners. Despite the good will between them, Jacinto comes to realize he must engage in social warfare against the ruling class to protect the dignity and legacy of his indigenous community.

Really neat performance! Great mix of puppetry, dance, theatre, live music and animation. Sweet story with a nice moral. Keep in mind tho, that the whole thing is in Spanish. there are subtitles projected on the curtain, however they tend to distract quite a bit for those of us who dont speak spanish. The person running the subtitles had a hard time keeping up with the action so many times you are reading the same lines or missing the action on stage. Avoid sitting house left as Theatre 2 doesnt have a control booth, so you'll have to listen to the Stage Manager calling cues the whole show. Show runs about 1.5 hours with no intermission (it isnt needed). If you are looking for something DIFFERENT from your usual stage performance i highly recommend it for the price of a goldstar ticket!
