As a teen growing up in Southern California, going to the Laserium show at Griffith Park Observatory was one of my favorite things to do with friends. A totally unique laser experience is now being offered at the new Cyber Theater in Hollywood by the same people that created the original Observatory show. The lobby has a cool space type theme accented by black light effects. There is a traditional movie theater snack bar where you can get a variety of items to munch on during the 45 minute show. The high definition multi-screen projections add to the laser effects to create some stunning moments during the presentation. For those who have never attended a laser show, Laserium is performed live by a laserist who creates a wide range of visual effects throughout the theater.
Although the show itself was pretty cool, there are a few operational glitches that should probably be fixed to move my review from 3 to 4 stars. First, this a 45 minute show, there is no bigger cyber kill than to see the silhouette of an usher and late comers against the backdrop of lushes colors and the music of Pink Floyd. Close the house doors when the show starts and have late arriving guests attend the next show. Second, the audio still needs a bit of tweaking. At times volume levels and balance were a bit harsh. Consider the db levels for the house (those guests that have sensitive hearing may want to bring some ear plugs for comfort).
The bottom lineā¦if you like the music of Pink Floyd and want to treat yourself to an awesome visual light show you will want to check out the new Laserium show performing live at the Cyber Theater in Hollywood.

Yep...I loved it...call me a nostalgic nerd but it f#@*ing ROCKED!! The lights, the music blaring, the shouts from the crowd and even the smell of, eh-hem...smoke! I thought it was a great time and I'm going to go back to see the other two shows! I actually felt like I was listening to some of the oldest, most classic, most played Zep hits for the first time. It is a must see for everyone in LA!! Crack your glow stick, hop on the subway...AND GO!!!

I thought it was great! Its an old theater and the seats are old, but the music was great and the lasers were amazing. They really do a good job with this. If you are looking for something to do out of the ordinary and you really are into music, I think that this a great activity. It sure bets another night at the movies or sitting at home. :)
