Went with the fams - ages 4 to 50 something. It was better suited for the mid-range crowd. Lots of people dressed up in cosplay making for very interesting people watching. Lots of fun.Written on Nov 08 2011

It's a long way from the San Diego comic con but it was an honest effort. The best part was seeing all the costumes. LA had no trouble drawing an enthusiastic crowd into this event. The vendor booths were a bit disorganized and we finished strolling through the entire thing in 1.5 hours while expecting to be there all day. Overall, it was worth the stroll.Written on Nov 08 2011

This was a fun comic book convention. There were lots of exhibitors, but it was a little short on comic book vendors. Not a lot of panels either, but the exhibit floor was cool. My main recommendation for next year would be to add more signs showing where to go from your car (you had to park in a different lot than the convention was being held in) and to have more signs leading to where to pick up tickets. That was by far the biggest hassle. No crowd control and no clear designation of where to pick up your ticket if you had bought it on Goldstar, or some other ticketing agency. Other than that, it was a fun, local alternative to Comic-con. Just needed more comic book vendors.Written on Nov 07 2011

Description
Comikaze Expo, the largest multimedia pop culture, comic book, horror and gaming convention in Los Angeles, has set its date and location: November 5-6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Comikaze’s creators expect 60,000 attendees and more than 300 vendors. The show will kick off with appearances by the father of modern comics, Stan Lee, and Comikaze’s official “spooksperson,” horror icon Elvira, at the event’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The first and only multimedia, cross-genre expo to hit Los Angeles, Comikaze Expo has created a pop culture extravaganza that brings together the best in comics, gaming, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, anime and all other cult programming. Its wide-ranging appeal has attracted celebrity appearances from icons and budding artists of this exciting world, including animators, comic book and anime artists, special effects teams, writers, actors, and filmmakers, among other creators, from both the mainstream and geek worlds.
“I’m thrilled to play a role in kicking off this much-needed, one-of-a-kind event,” says Stan Lee. “It’s important for Los Angeles, the city of dreams, to have its own show of this type, where fans and creators alike can mingle and expand the industry while embracing this city’s vivid and diverse culture.”
The talent associated with Comikaze will please fans of every genre. “I’m so excited to be a part of Comikaze Expo,” says Elvira. “Where else would little old me get to stuff myself into my favorite dress and schmooze and mingle with so many fans? Plus, I can finally speak my mind to all the other artists there, especially all those cheesy, sleazy she-demon actresses who got the parts I was meant for—and the directors who cast them!”
In addition to Elvira and Stan Lee, confirmed appearances include the cast reunion of The Police Academy franchise and Nickelodeon's All That, Daniel Radcliffe's screening of The Woman in Black, a DC New 52 panel and meet and greet, and many others. This unparalleled event’s wide range of innovative programming and activities provide fans access to their favorite artists and creators. Family-oriented events are scheduled Sunday, November 6.
About the Ticket Supplier: Comikaze Expo Inc
Comikaze Expo is the brainchild of siblings Regina and Mario Carpinelli, who grew up in Southern California. Since childhood, they've been immersed in a world of comics, gaming, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and anime. With the help of close friends Klaus Moeller and Shelle Mannion, big comic fans themselves, this collective of family and friends created the event that has always been missing from the city of Los Angeles.
Comikaze is unlike any other comic-related event in the US. Having spent much time researching both local and national conventions in the United States, the Comikaze Team crafted an event that will thrill and excite even the most casual comic fan. Comikaze is a multi-tiered extravaganza created by real comic fans with deep ties to the entertainment world. While Comikaze might have a classic convention vibe, it's much more than that. The Comikaze Team did not want to make an event for industry people and hardcore fans only. Instead, they designed a more balanced event as an alternative to the standard fan convention, dedicated to the Los Angeles and geek community above all else.
