Created by Hollywood stuntman Jon Braver, The Haunted Play's first interactive horror play debuted last year to rave reviews from participants and the media. It was named 2011's "Best Haunted Attraction" by FOX LA and "Hottest Ticket in LA" by NPR's All Things Considered. This year, actor Neil Patrick Harris has signed on to the team to help create an even more psychologically disturbing interactive theater experience than before. This year's episode, Delusion: The Blood Rite, invites you into the mansion of Dr. Lowell, whose bizarre experiments in telekinesis, gravity manipulation and thought control have left the building filled with terrors beyond your imagination. You will become a participant in this horrifying tale as interactive events, suspenseful storytelling and explosive stuntwork draw you deep within the insanity left behind when the doctor was murdered by his own wife. Before the night is through, you will be called on to make appalling decisions to further the story and determine your own fate.

By the Way, Meet Vera Stark: Sly Satire Skewers Hollywood Racism

Full Price:
$43.00 - $55.00
Our Price:
$21.50 - $27.50

Set in Hollywood over a 70-year period, Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage's pseudo-biographical comedy By the Way, Meet Vera Stark follows the life of a headstrong African-American actress who begins a career in the 1930s, at a time when her only shot at success lay in stealing small scenes in big Hollywood blockbusters. Seventy years later, film buffs reflect on the life and legacy of the controversial star, whose eventual fame and fortune came at the price of perpetuating dangerous stereotypes. Nottage artfully blends comedy and social commentary for a thoroughly entertaining yet thought-provoking picture of the cultural climate that shaped Vera Stark. Clever and illuminating, this show draws on screwball films of the 1930s and uses today's fascination with celebrity and controversy to get to the truth behind the legend, and reflect on who she might have been if she'd lived in a different time. Very, very short, and rushed event. Could have been good with better writing and a longer production (seriously was pushed out one door and into another constantly). Apparently this year it was longer than last year so... unless it's a lot longer & better productio next year, it is not worth the money in the slighest. Sorry. They tried though.

This was a unique experience. It is not a typical haunted house with people jumping out at you; it was truly interactive as advertised and a story unfolded as you experienced the jaunt through an old frightening house. It is an absolute must if you like haunted experiences.

Very impressive/elaborate but not scary at all + do not expect to see or hear anything about Neil Patrick Harris. Expect to wait for a long time (up to over 45 minutes) before you actually start the tour. When we went, they didn't have their liquor license yet, but hopefully they will soon--the cocktails looked amazing.

Description

1910
Inside the decrepit, diseased mansion lived a family that existed in a world of nightmares. The head of household, the malignant psychiatrist Dr. Frederick Lowell, worked in seclusion to realize his idea for the next stage of human evolution. His prized patients lived here as well. Dr. Lowell’s dark methods enabled some to exhibit unreal abilities such as telekinesis, gravity manipulation and thought control.

Yet before his even greater plan could be realized, he was murdered by his wife Cassandra.

Dr. Lowell's death left you without your master. You were scattered and alone, left to wander the outside.

1918
You’ve finally returned from The Great War to face an even darker pain. Your nightmares have become unbearable. It is not only the gunfire, or severed limbs landing by your feet that haunt you. It is the mansion, your former home…and her voice.

Come home. Help me free our father from the darkness.

Time and again, she has called upon you in your dreams, pleading for help with a task she cannot perform alone.

Help me end his suffering and I will end yours.

Each night, her pleadings grow stronger. Her words burn deeper into your mind.

Find the grave...bring me the vial!

It is unavoidable. You've chosen to forget this place, yet ultimately your torment drives you back to the dark mansion to confront whatever it is that keeps sanity just out of reach.
