A 12-character, one-man show about the realities of the modern urban classroom, Did You Do Your Homework? returns to Los Angeles following its acclaimed 2009 run at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and a recent reprisal at Asylum Lab Theatre. In turns comic, tragic and inspiring, Homework is staged by writer-director Aaron Braxton, who has 14 years of experience teaching in L.A. schools. The reality-based show, which follows a substitute teacher's journey through the bureaucracy of the system, garnered a 2010 NAACP National Theatre Award, among other accolades, and caused Back Stage to hail the show as "powerful" and commend Braxton as "a compelling spokesperson."

World of Theater Explored in The Fool and the Red Queen

In the latest comic meditation from renowned playwright Murray Mednick, The Fool and the Red Queen experiments with archetypes to explore human nature and the processes of theater. A struggling actor named Gary finds himself at a nightmarish audition where the audience discovers the magical ability of the theater to create new realities -- in this case, a darkly funny and improvised play-within-a-play similar to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Marie and Bruce. Driven by poetic impulse rather than linear storytelling, The Fool and the Red Queen is a ruefully funny, lyrical look at the theater and the natural elements that drive us all. Learn More

My husband went to this show with mixed ideas. He thought a 1 man show would be very difficult to do. He came away having totally enjoyed and still amazed that Braxton was able to do it. I, being a retired teacher, totally enjoyed it too. I will recommend this to my fellow teachers and friends. Braxton put his whole being into this play. It was great.

This is a very intense show, especially if you are a teacher! So well performed by Aaron! My only criticism is that because he works so hard, he sweats so profusely that it is distracting. Maybe a towel and shirt change would be in order?

This was by far the very best One-Man Show I have ever seen! Braxton is brilliant and believable. My 14 year old son was skeptical about attending such a small venue, but he too found it very entertaining and I even saw his eyes tear up during a very emotional scene. I plan to see it again with friends this weekend!
