A good college production. I would have preferred one Eva, not two.

I did not like it, but since the students worked really hard, I will give it an additional star. The set was very unattractive and cold. The music was dreary, macabe and sinister at best. I was expecting more pomp and circumstance considering Eva Perone was such a celebrated figure during/after her time. I really wanted to leave, but did not want to be rude by having the foyer light glare the actors. Why didn't a Latin actress play the role? I am sure they would not mind dyeing their hair blond. The first act was slow and difficult to watch. The second half was a little better. The signage on stage right that was meant to depict the location of each scene was difficult to see due to the position of the cart, lampstand blocking it and the "old woman" character was in the way. The muscial score was so macabe---not a good idea. There should have been more glamor and the music should have coincided with the glamor of the older, mature Evita. I did not like it. I appreciate the students for working so hard!!!

Depicting the rise and fall of Argentina's first lady, Eva Peron, this musical moves audiences across cultures and genders. With so few choices available to her in her time, Evita still transcends reality, using her sexuality to acquire wealth, power, and the ever-fleeting love of the people.
