The advertisement stated that the stage and and upper area would be transformed to appear like Fantasy Island and that their would be a DJ spinning music from the top 40 and other hits. Also it boasted that one would party with hundreds of friends instead of thousands. The event was to start at 9:00 p.m. We were among the first to arrive with about ten others. Upon entering we saw that the bar area was decorated to look "tropical" and we were anxious to see the other decorations. We were not greeting by anyone but were told to go
upstairs. The upper area was sparsely decorated with balloons held up to the ceiling by netting, to be dropped at midnight. The ceiling was approximately six feet above my head. There was an area where snacks were, which we were told would be passed out every thirty minutes, and there was an area where the music was coming from but I was unable to tell if there was a DJ or not. My husband and I wanted to see how the stage was decorated but found only a lone spot light and no decorations. We asked some personnel if all the decorations were completed and we were told yes. At about 9:30 and four more people showed up. Each person was given one free drink coupon for each person in their party. In our case they gave us two drink coupons each (for our wait?). We had arrived early. I decided to use one of the free drink coupons and ordered a drink that required whiskey and seven up and was told they were out. This event was billed to go from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. How could they already be out. I asked the bartender what happened to the transformation that was to take place and she told me that they did not get the RSVP numbers expected and decided to scale down the event. By ten o'clock there was no D.J. about twenty five people present and only latin music had been played. About 10:15 we left, very disappointed. Someone from the staff should I told us immediately that our expectations would not be met. Instead of us having to ask around. What a disappointment.

It was okay for a first year event. The music could have been WAY better. If the advertisement says the DJ will be playing a variety of genres, then by all means, please do. The music on the dance floor was Latin for about 90% of the evening, which wasn't bad, but was really false advertising. We had to request Top 40 and the DJ gave us a strange look. The appetizers could be better prepared and served in a more timely manner. The event could also be better publicized to a younger crowd.
Good part: The bartenders were awesome and the servers were real friendly. The tequila bottle giveaways were cool.

Wow, this event was more like Nightmare Island. I understand it was a fundraiser, but the venue really took advantage of the Fantasy Island name and idea. It was no fantasy. The party area was cold and dark. The (volunteer) bartenders didn't know how to pour a drink and the music was abysmal with three different people playing the same songs over or just killing the dance floor with poor music choices. I didn't see any kind of host or any door prizes. We showed up after 11PM and didn't have any other choice as to another event. Luckily, my girlfriend is incredible, so we laughed and just tried to make the most of it, given the situation. But, if this wasn't a fundraiser, I would certainly demand a refund.
