I attended this class on "French Macarons & Wine" at the Downtown, LA location. I have to say that the class was very fun. The instructor was lovely. She was very knowledgeable and thorough about how to make Macarons. She focused on one type, chocloate. However, she was not prepared with her ingredients, in particular cocoa powder. She of course substituted with anotehr type of cocoa powder that she had not used before and of course the recipe didn't work as perfectly as it would have with the original recipe.Written on Dec 07 2009
Regardless of this, I really liked learning to make macarons.
I would have to say that mixing wine tasting and macarons wasn't such a great idea, although it was nice to be able to drink wine and learn. I think next time, i would just take the macarons class in a different setting so that I can actually make some on my own and not just watch a demonstration.
There were too many people in this class and the style wasn't so much hands on as I had hoped.
I also didn't think this class was worth $80, although I only paid $45 for it though gold star.
I thought we would get a nice box of macarons to take home with us, but that was not the case.

Had a wonderful time, met some great ladies... You get out of it what you put into it. If you want to sit and watch, sit and watch... but I participated and volunteered to mix, fold, eat, etc... :-) It was amazing!!!Written on Mar 09 2010

I think the baking instructor was great, she is passionate and very knowledgeable. She should have her own show on the food network. The wine portion of the class took second fiddle to the food portion, as many people in the class were foodies. This class was more of a demonstration, although the instructor made every effort to give everyone a chance to participate, which I think was appropriate for the size of the class (about 40 women). The loft was cool, but a little cramped to move around in. Generous wine samples, but the goodies too small to take home. So enjoy while you're there and take the recipe and memories home. Instruction and food history definitely worth taking more classes.Written on Dec 11 2009

I attended this school with a few girlfriends for a girls night out and then planned to hit a few bars afterwards in Downtown. The only thing we didn't like was that it wasn't hands on as we thought it was. Much of the time was spent watching the demonstrations on how to make macarons. I think for the price we paid, we had to make it up in asking for more refills on the wine tastings. Plan to stay about 3 hours. I wouldn't do this again.Written on Dec 25 2010

Description
Please Note: This is not a baking class, but Chef Clemence does share her receipe and take you on a guided tour of the process.
Learn the secrets of these Parisian delicacies in just a few hours. This is a demonstration class with hands-on decorating -- you and your girlfriends will learn the techniques developed by French Pastry Chef Clemence Gossett, and leave with recipes for your own delicious macarons.
Of course, you will also be able to sample a few treasures from the wine cellar that enlighten your wine enjoyment and create a fun experience for ladies only.
Confectionary Goddess Clemence Gosset
Born in Paris, her pastry skills were honed in her family’s auberge in Provence. The lavender-scented honey, Valrhona chocolates, local almonds and the sweetest blackberries all inspired decadence. She made a chocolate cake there one summer, and it made the cut and its way onto the dessert cart. Watching from the dish washing room, she could see patrons savoring the cake; it was magic! Now, based in Los Angeles, Clemence operates as an entertainer and educator from www.GourmandiseDesserts.com, and with the wine education support of the liquid classroom at LOFT218 – great tastes of wines and chocolates will be served all night.
