The annual Summerland Tour comes to the Wiltern in Los Angeles, and as usual, it brings with it some of the biggest names in alternative rock. Only until April 5, you can pick up tickets through Goldstar before they're available to the public and enjoy four '90s heavyweights, including tour founders Everclear. Led by frontman Art Alexakis, Everclear recorded hits like "Santa Monica," "Everything to Everyone," "I Will Buy You a New Life" and "Wonderful." They're joined by Filter, who had two platinum albums and recorded hits including "Take a Picture" and "Hey Man, Nice Shot." Hailing from Pennsylvania, Live sold 8 million copies of 1994's Throwing Copper, and reached the top 5 of the Billboard alternative charts with "Lightning Crashes," "Selling the Drama," "Lakini's Juice," "Turn My Head," "All Over You" and "The Dolphin's Cry." Rounding out the lineup, Sponge will be playing hits such as "Plowed," "Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain)" and "Wax Ecstatic (To Sell Angelina)." Learn More

Written on Jul 23 2012Loved it!!! Glen Frey was a class act.The Wiltern is an old classic theater that could be better maintained. Some seats were well worn and not comfortable.

Written on Jun 01 2012I like Eagles Glenn Frey but not the Loungy Glenn Frey. First half was not my cup of tea. Second half got better. The people I was with enjoyed it. To each his own. He needs to stick with what people like. He is no Frank Sinatra. The Santa Monica Orchestra was great!
Written on Jun 01 2012Love the Wiltern, even the cheap mezzanine seats have a good view unless some behemoth sits in front of you. I had modest expectations of Glenn Frey -of course I love the Eagles and his 80's songs so I was expecting to hear both. When he did play those songs, the tempo was slower. When he launched into his lounge act, my heart sank. Not only did he pick drippy songs like "Shadow of Your Smile" or overplayed songs like "Route 66" , but Glenn's voice was shot! Hoarse! If he was auditioning, he would not get the part. The back up musicians and the Santa Monica HS orchestra were stellar - when they played I could close my eyes and be transported, at least while Glenn wasn't singing. I cant speak for the second half of the show becuase we bailed. Thank Goodness for cheap tickets, we were not so invetsted to feel utterly cheated. Maybe the price point should have been a warning.
