The Kennedy Center's critically-acclaimed Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's classic musical Follies, currently nominated for eight 2012 Tony Awards, comes to the Ahmanson Theatre, where it's receiving equally stellar reviews. It's the haunting story of two troubled couples who reunite at the decrepit theater where the ladies once performed, facing the ghosts of the past and the harsh reality of the present. Featuring a memorable score by Sondheim, including such enduring songs as "Broadway Baby," "Losing My Mind" and "I'm Still Here," the show is also a riveting look at the deterioration of the American dream -- a crack in the plaster of the gilded age of Broadway. Director Eric Schaeffer is joined by much of his original cast -- with 41 performers, it's one of the largest ever on this stage -- as well as a 28-piece orchestra. Tony Award-winner Victoria Clark joins the production, while reprising their roles from the New York show are 2012 Tony nominees Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein and Ron Raines. Learn More

I loved this cast and play. Jeff Daniels was particularly strong, but the whole cast was great and impressive to watch just 4 actors carry the entire play. I appreciated the fact that it was only 90 minutes and it went by very quickly. It was interesting to see their lives and personalities unravel throughout the course of the 90 minutes.Written on May 05 2011

I thoroughly enjoyed the evening at the theatre. Personally, I didn't find this play to be as much about laughs as a serious view of two relationships spiraling out of control.Written on May 09 2011

God of Carnage is a well written play with a stellar cast and excellent direction by Matthew Warchus. I was sorry to have missed it on Broadway,so I was thrilled when it was on the schedule for the Ahmanson. The story is not new-two sets of couples meet and we watch their relationships unravel throughout the 90 minutes. But the cast, especially Marcia Gay Harden, is worth the price of admission. And Hope Davis can add a new trick to her resume under special skills...Written on Apr 13 2011
