More Details
Gwendolyn and the Good Time Gang has gained enormous popularity in Southern California and nationwide since the release of their self-titled debut album in May 2003. The band has performed numerous West Coast concerts at street fairs, family festivals, record stores, celebrity birthday parties and even the occasional nightclub. They've had full-page features in the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times, and Entertainment Weekly awarded the CD the only "A" in the music reviews section of the September 12, 2003, issue.
It all began when, with the success of Gwendolyn's song "Freedom of the Heart (Ooodily Ooodily)" in the indie cult film Chuck and Buck, a friend suggested to the award-winning songwriter that she create an entire album for kids. Out came the nutty, irresistibly playful tunes of Gwendolyn and the Good Time Gang. She broke through the standard nursery rhyme formula and created a new sound that kids respond to instantly. Employing her natural ability to do voices, Gwendolyn developed a variety of characters--puppets "Spunk," "Bling" and "Haircut," who help take listeners on a silly-willy adventure through music learning and childhood fun. The mood is nurturing and spontaneous, goofy and sweet. Best of all, the songs help children learn about the world around them.
Once the first album hit the stands, Gwendolyn and producing partner Brandon Jay (Quazar & the Bamboozled) recruited their talented friends to help bring the songs to a live audience. The band continues to have a blast performing music, producing videos and recording more albums--Tis The Season To Be Rockin'! (a holiday album) and their latest release, Get Up and Dance.
