Doma Theater Co. presents Songs for a New World, from composer Jason Robert Brown, creator of the acclaimed musicals 13 and Parade. This is Brown's first theatrical work, originally produced off-Broadway in 1995 and described by the composer as neither a musical nor a revue, but rather a "very theatrical song cycle." The series of songs are thematically connected, illustrating points of major decision in the characters' lives. The songs are performed by four cast members who play different characters throughout. The energy was great. I just have a problem with shows that are 3 hours long, there just wasn't a reason for that. The voices were good when they all sang together but there weren't any stand out voices from the leads. All in all it was a fun night, but it didn't pass my butt test.Written on Oct 22 2007

Amazing show!! I was surprised at the sizeable cast--it was such a small and intimate theater! I took my mom who saw Hair when it made it's debut in the 60's--she loved it too. Wonderful acting, vocals, and the way it made you feel as if you were a part of the action. It was fantastic!Written on Oct 10 2007

Description
Original Broadway producer Michael Butler is back to produce "Hair" at the MET Theatre in Hollywood.
Hair made Broadway history in 1968 as the first rock musical, initially running over four years with a slew of chart-topping hit songs including “The Age of Aquarius,” “Let the Sun Shine In,” “Good Morning, Starshine,” “Easy To Be Hard” and “Hair.”
Thirty-nine years after its Broadway debut, original Broadway producer Michael Butler is back to produce it at the MET Theatre in Hollywood.
