Chekhov meets Fellini in this enchanting tragicomedy brimming with wit, charm and magic by one of Poland's most distinguished modern playwrights. Set in Poland circa 1890, Tadeusz Rózewicz's White Marriage is a surreal and erotic coming-of-age fairy tale that follows two young girls' maturation into womanhood. With the adult world swirling around sisters Bianca and Pauline, the two respond in wildly different ways to the strange discoveries they are making about the mysterious business of sex. This magic-filled "tragic farce" by one of Poland's greatest contemporary writers was a hit for the Odyssey 35 years ago. Learn More

I've seen a lot of Shakespeare and this was among the best. The acting was superb, making the play understandable and accessible. The novelty of having an all-woman cast was lovely but the fun of that wore off quickly and the seriousness of the play and the beauty of the language replaced that very early one. Hamlet's agony was palpable and his terrible mistake brought me to tears. Thank you, Los Angeles Women's Shakespeare Company. Thank you, Odyssey Theatre. Thank you, Goldstar!
