This was a fantastic representation of the King of Pop's classic sequined military jackets and gloves! A once in a lifetime opportunity to see them so up close as CNN was there taping for the Larry King interview last night! What an honor! I loved it!

The GRAMMY Museum was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. You start on the fourth floor and work your way down. Level four was my favorite because you learned about the different genres of music and there were a lot of listening stations. Level three had the special exhibit on Neil Diamond as well as a viewing room and outfits (including the white suit from Thriller and a few gloves) from Michael Jackson. Level two showcased political music/artists and also had a theater were you could watch 90 minutes of Michael Jackson's best music videos. I would definitely go back again to spend more time listening to music on the top floor.
The museum was very cool and informative but I was disappointed by the small Michael Jackson section. The lady at will call told me that Michael Jackson used to be the main special exhibit (now it is Neil Diamond), and they took it down the day before he died. What's left is only about half of what was up just 2 weeks ago. That was disappointing.
NOTE: The GRAMMY Museum is having a summer special were all tickets are only $10!!! This means that it is less expensive to show up and buy tickets at the box office. Sorry Goldstar, I love you, but I know we are all on here trying to find the best deal, and this time it isn't you.

Had an overall fun experience at the Grammy museum. I thought there would be more M.J. clothing, but I did enjoy what I saw and also the showing of all his videos was a nice relaxing time and trip down memory lane.
Take the time to go, I stayed about 4hours, taking my time w/the inneractive tools they had and the exhibits. Plan your time and no photography allowed, so I don't have any pics to share sorry.
See you again Michael Jackson.
Have fun, hope this helps

I really loved everything about the Grammy museum, my only feedback is that I can't wait for them to expand it! I realize it's a new attraction so I'll give them some time. But overall, really fun and informative, and it was a great way to pay tribute to MJ.

The Michael Jackson exhibit was timely and expertly displayed. The video tape exposes gave an even greater insight into the King of Pop. It also revealed some rather humorous moments when Michael was a member of the Jackson 5. He was so obviously bigger than the family act (and it is painfully illustrated in many of the early videos). The Grammy Museum is so very well intentioned. It has the potential for being a major Los Angeles landmark and exhibition space. Give yourself at least 2-3 hours to check it out. Arrive early.

I had a fun time there but it could've take 3 hours if you use every interactive display.
I really wish they would not advertise so much about their MJ display as it really isn't much. It's a few items of clothing and then music videos. The Thriller outfit was missing and the sign said it moved to a different floor, but we didn't see it. I would've love to see more personal items like other arists have on display.
Validate your parking when you get there for your free 2 hours.

I attended this event in regards that I wasn't one of the very lucky people to get to go the Staple's Center for the Memorial. I bought them last week so my sister, my mother and I to enjoy. My sister loved it. My mom was able to sit in the theater where they were showing Michael Jackson's number one music videos. As for I was expecting to see more of Michael Jackson's memorabilia on display, unfortunately there was only a couple of items on display, and the bad thing was we couldn't take photographs. I am a scrapbooking individual that loves to keep my memories thru photographs. Overall I did enjoy myself.

The Grammy Museum experience was the bomb! I love it! It's a trip I could take it on and on and on..... The interactive learning you get out the place is great for all ages. You just can't be shy.... try on those earphones and interact with each exhibition they have... you will learn something new every time. Go into those booths they have and learn about how they track and mix the music and the songs. Totally interactive..... just follow along and BE the KID you are. Don't be shy... you'll love it!

First of all-my orginial reservation was a week earlier[when they were having the funeral at staples center.I was turned away by LAPD-[to many people in the area....I went home, contacted Goldstar-they re-arranged everything for me.My only complaint was no-one in the area knew where the Grammy Museum was?...[Its on the corner of Figueroa- and Olympic.]After parking -and walking around for twenty-minutes,we finally found it...It was worth all the confusion..The museum is 4 floors, and all the exibits are great. The reason I went was for the Tribute to Michael Jackson..It was excellent..I will go back again...

What a fascinating museum filled with so much info and memorabilia, I could spend days there! I am an avid listener and appreciator of many genres of music. This museum is high on my list and would definitely take out of town guests.
The Michael Jackson tributes were very nice with his costumes and videos and the large theater which had nonstop Michael videos was so worthwhile. I would have liked to stay in there for hours.

Very nice museum. Parking is $5.00 for 90 minutes under the Nokia. The museum takes 90 minutes or more depends on what like. I enjoyed myself. Special for the summer is $10.00 at the door.

This event was pretty cool. I liked it mainly because it is the King of Pop we're talking about. I love him! Pro - Michael Jackson's number one videos playing in the theater on the second floor. Con - There were only four jackets, two gloves and one suit. They might've pressed the suit before it was displayed, but I'm not too picky. It was pretty cool. I'd go back to check the rest out.

The museum was excellent, however, the Michael Jackson exhibit was just OK.
We spent more time visiting the rest of the museum which did give a good synopsis of the history of music.
We thought we'd only spend about 2 hours there, but ended up staying longer since there was so much see and do.

My family and I went to the Grammy Museum mainly for the Michael Jackson exhibit but were also enthralled with all of the excellent information and exhibits. It is a truly wonderful collection of music and fun facts and the interactive displays and listening experiences taught us a lot about all types of music ( jazz, gospel, R & B etc.) We spent close close to 3 hours in the museum and would definitely return.

Not what we expected at all. It was just videos of MJ that you can find on Youtube and a few jackets that he wore. The advertisement made it sound like it was going to much more than 2 screens and 4 jackets. We were very disappointed.

When I read the tagline : In Celebration of Michael Jackson, I was expecting a full blown floor dedicated to the artist. Magazines, televisions stations, newspapers, radio channels have been covering his life and career from every angle and I was sure that the Grammy Museum would be able to do an even better job.
I was wrong.
They had a theater running his videos (many of them were edited down for time content), a few running clips of him performing, and a handful of his clothes.
I could have bought a few magazines, turned on BET, and searched through youtube for a better "trip down memory lane" of Michael Jackson.
Don't waste your money if you are going JUST for Michael Jackson. False advertising. Should read: Come to the Grammy Museum not because you are a fan of MJ but because you have nothing better to do.

The Grammy museum is a must for all music fans. We only had3 hours to spend-clearly not enough time to see, hear and participate in all this interactive music museum has to offer. I had read the reviews of the Michael Jackson exhibit, so I wasn't expecting much. I didn't get to see the 90 minute video footage- I will definately be back.
The interactive part of the museum is the most fun. I took my 12 year old daughter and 17 year old son and we had a blast!

For $5, this was a steal deal! It was really nice. There were a few items worn by MJ on display - not too impressed with that :-). There was footage from when he and his brothers presented Grammy awards. What I enjoyed the most was the theatre - where you watch full length MJ videos on the big screen, as if you were at a movie theatre. The sound quality was awesome! I really enjoyed the interactive music - touch this and that and listen to all genres of music, from various Grammy winners. Great use of technology. My teenager enjoyed this part the most!
Remember to park in their parking lot. They validate for two hours. We did not do that, because we walked around downtown and shopped. We paid $7 to park all day. We also saw a few movies being shot in the downtown area. The weather was great! Overall, we had a great experience.
If you are a true music fan, especially a MJ fan, you will spend two to three hours at the museum, easily. It was great talking to all of the people and many MJ fans. Wonderful event to attend!

I personally was a little disappointed. I thought there was going to be ALOT of Michael Jackson things to look at. When I saw there was only 1 small case with 2 gloves and I think 4 jackets, I was bummed. There is a film of grammy show appearances and a theater running his #1 music videos and that was it. Don't get me wrong the jackets and gloves were amazing, I just wanted much more. On top of that, I was there 3 hours and the parking was $20.00 OUTRAGEOUS!!!! The museum offers some other interesting things but is realtively small. Claims to be 4 floors but is really only 3 and one of those floors is mostly giftshop and they do not allow photography AT ALL! If your a real music history lover, I say go for it, but if going for the MJ exhibit, you will be disappointed.

The billing is way too much hype. There were about six of his stage outfits. Woohoo. Not much more specific to Michael Jackson. But the museum itself is good - interesting with lots of memorabilia from many performing artists, lots of Louis Armstrong and other greats. It's worth the time to go and it's worth the Goldstar price - but not worth much more. The area is still under construction - parking is available only off Olympic and not how it is shown on the Grammy map. Street parking is very limited in availability and time. Is it worth the trip? Yes. Is it some magical Michael Jackson fest? No. Would I go again? Not for a while.

We had a blast! We didn't get a chance to visit all the floors so, we're going back before the Celebration of Michael Jackson is over! we learned a lot of history behind the different genres of music, very educational. I recorded a rap with Jermaine Dupree and Nelly in one the studio booths, that was really fun. Also, I sang lead and background vocals to one of my favorite songs from the 80's, "Human" by "The Human League". The song was written by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Yes, it was truly a fun time had by all and we are definitely going back.

I went on a Sunday afternoon and took my husband and 4 kids. I was under the impression that it would have a bigger collection of Michael Jackson than displayed (3 jackets, 2 gloves and white suit) Thriller outfit moved but could not be found. Only tribute thet had was 90 minutes of videos (small theater). The kids enjoyed the theater but had already seen the videos over the last few weeks. It kept us out of the 100 plus heat. I enjoyed the interactive stations throughout the floors but its not for kids under the age of 12 it might be boring. You receive 2 hour parking credit when you park in the East parking lot, every 1/2 hour afterwards is $5.

The Michael Jackson display was disappointing with only one small case consisted of 4 of his outfits and 2 gloves on display. His "Thriller" jacket was missing from it's display with a note saying that it has been temporary removed and will be back shortly. However, on the 2nd level (the soundstage) they did have series of Michael Jackson's music videos in the theatre area located in the back of the room. It was nice to reminisce when MJ was at the peak of his career which made my eyes mist up a bit. People were dancing in their seats and along the aisles.
Also, what was surprising to me is that they had JLO's infamous green see through dress that "shocked" the world (which by the way was a very clever career move on her part other than dating P. Diddy) on display and the material on the dress is horrendous! Most likely it's a mock duplication of the outfit. And the beading on Beyonce's pink Grammy dress looked cheaply made as if the material was purchased from Michael's Craft store or Walmart.
Overall the Grammy Museum was a nice experience with interactive music on the 4th floor and archives including original instruments, Telegrams and Eminem's scribbled lyrics on a piece of paper on display. You can sneak in a couple of photos in the museum just beware of the staff watching over you. Meter Parking is FREE on Sundays if you're lucky to find one. I took my boyfriend this past Sunday and we had a fun experience and have since recommended the Museum to all my friends who are music lovers.

I took both my children who are musically inclined. They really enjoyed the interactive stations and learning how to mix music. They had more items for Neil Diamond than for Michael Jackson. But over all it is a very good museum especially the stations that have the history of each method of music, from gospel to bluegrass to classical. Very clean, good staff...but I never did find out if they have tours for schools.

The Michael Jackson experience was over-hyped: just 1 display case with less than 10 items. No photos. Limited video loop. But to be charitable, the Grammy Museum itself is fascinating. If the "event" had been promoted accurately I would have had a better time.

I only rate the exhibit about Michael Jackson as ok, because it is very small. There is only a few pieces of clothing, a theatre showing his videos, and a small room showing his grammy apparences over the years.
Other than the exhibit the Grammy Museum is high tech and very hands on. I enjoyed using the sound booths to sing, mix, rap, etc...
I recommend the museum, but not necessarily the exhibit.

I bought tickets for my husbands birthday. We wanted to take in the experiance of the MJ celebration and memorial. The tribute at the museum was great. They had the video section dedicated to all his videos. They also had his costumes and the footage from his Grammy wins and grammy shows from the past with his brothers. It was great to see it all. Besides the MJ coverage, there were tons of very cool things to see. From the interactive tools, history of instruments, to cool outfits that musicians wore. More Information
Website: http://www.grammymuseum.org/interior.php?section=exhibits&page=...
In celebration of the life and work of Michael Jackson, The Grammy Museum is sharing a collection of Jackson's most iconic wardrobe pieces (including the suit he wore on the cover of Thriller). These pieces will be exhibited on the Museum's third floor alongside video of some of Jackson's most exciting Grammy performances. The museum hopes this exhibit will serve as a fitting tribute to one of the most significant entertainers in music history.
For thousands of years, royalty has called attention to itself with extravagant clothing and other finery. Jewels, fine fabrics, and elaborate accessories can complete the transformation of a person into a brightly-shining star that holds its audience spellbound.
As the self-anointed "King of Pop," Michael Jackson has fully embraced this royal tradition. And like his album HIStory, this exhibit gathers together some of his greatest hits -- pieces that are uniquely and unmistakably his.
"The Grammy Museum is excited for this rare chance to share this material with our visitors," said Chief Curator Ken Luftig Viste. "Michael Jackson is undeniably one of the most significant entertainers in pop music history, and the pieces' starpower -- and design -- is striking. Few, if any, have ever before been made available to the public in this way."
Including seven elaborately embellished jackets, two gloves, and more, highlights include jackets worn on the Victory tour, at Jackson's 1984 American Music Awards appearance, and at the dedication of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. All are elaborately bejeweled, beaded, and detailed -- with one piece weighing nearly fifteen pounds.
"As a 21st Century museum, we will update our exhibit content frequently," said Executive Director Robert Santelli. "Though we've only been open a short time, Michael Jackson: HIStyle allows us to demonstrate our steadfast commitment to putting that goal into practice. Plus, it's an amazing collection."
Working with talented designers, Jackson's crystals, sequins, beads, embroidery, and insignia have combined to catch the eyes of millions, transmitting his dance moves from the stage to the back row, and his starpower across the world.
The GRAMMY Museum
The GRAMMY Museum explores and celebrates the enduring legacies of all forms of music; the creative process; the art and technology of the recording process; and the history of the GRAMMY(r) Awards, the premier recognition of recorded music accomplishment.
