This exuberant original story--featuring a score by beloved Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim--involves a Baker and his Wife's quest to begin a family, and ties together the stories of Little Red Ridinghood, Jack of Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella. The land is ravaged by a giantess, whose husband was killed when Jack chopped down the beanstalk. The show explores the consequences of selfish actions, and the need for community in order to survive "the Woods." Who will find love? Who will survive? And who will come together to save the woods?

Songs for a New World -- A Theatrical Song Cycle by Jason Robert Brown (13, Parade)

Full Price:
$30.00
Our Price:
FREE - $15.00

Doma Theater Co. presents Songs for a New World, from composer Jason Robert Brown, creator of the acclaimed musicals 13 and Parade. This is Brown's first theatrical work, originally produced off-Broadway in 1995 and described by the composer as neither a musical nor a revue, but rather a "very theatrical song cycle." The series of songs are thematically connected, illustrating points of major decision in the characters' lives. The songs are performed by four cast members who play different characters throughout. The vocally demanding score is influenced by multiple genres, including pop, gospel, jazz and classical. Learn More

It was okay. The direction wasn't very strong and some of the talent was quite up to par.
Great music.. but I have been spoiled by better casts.

The show itself was great, BUT there were REAL problems with the Goldstar aspect. READ BELOW.

Thank You Everybody! I wanted to take my new boyfreind to go see "Into the Woods" one of my favorite shows and was happy it was a great one like this. My boyfriend is new to Los Angeles and was surprised that a small theater show can have such high prodcution value.

Description

The Grimm Brothers' tales come alive in DOMA Theater Co.'s production of Into The Woods. The fairy tales of childhood have turned into a dark adventure and have new twists and turns. DOMA Theater Co. presents an interactive adventure where the magic of Sondheim's music and lyrics are brought to life.

Though often presented as a cute fairy tale musical, the double innuendoes are fully displayed on stage: little girls who chase rather than be chased, princes who flirt with more than just the girl they are after, and a love story between a wolf and a tender young girl. Audiences will get more than expected from this interpretation--for there is movement in every inch of the woods.
