Started a half hour late, and the next 30 minutes was pretty dry (no food and a lot of talking from the owner). Once we started though it was fun, just dont expect a cooking class. Most anyone did was stir some batter and heat some milk. The cholocate dipped fruit and mousse did taste great though and the fact it was a small group of 6 helped. Would recommend it, but just dont expect any real cooking to occur.

Description

Chocolate has been known throughout history as a medicine and as an aphrodisiac. Sensual in nature, chocolate evokes a sense of warmth and comfort, as well as a deep satisfaction of the mind, body, and libido.

The class will start 2000 years ago with the Mayans and learn about their chocolate discovery. You'll eat raw chocolate via the cacao beans, later converting them into cacao nibs. With a mortar and pestle you'll make raw chocolate to drink as the Mayans and Aztecs did. Next, we’ll taste our way through the European’s conversion of chocolate, which removed the spice and added the sweet. You'll taste your way through modern chocolate, starting with white chocolate, and moving from a 30% chocolate mass to 100% chocolate mass. From sweet and white to bitter and dark, it is an experience of the senses. The class will next move to various applications of chocolate, moving to a hands-on part of class to make hot chocolates, chocolate-covered fruits, and chocolate mousse to further understand the dimensions of this wonder.
