In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO), a beacon for the troubled city with a rich cultural spirit, is a swinging 16-piece ensemble led by trumpet prodigy and Wynton Marsalis’ protégé Irvin Mayfield, Louisiana and City of New Orleans’ Cultural Ambassador. Carrying on the traditions of New Orleans jazz, blues, swing and spirituals, NOJO will perform Mr. Mayfield’s big band arrangements, original compositions and the music of Duke Ellington in this very special performance.
