- Our Price:
- $20.00 - $22.50
Center Theatre Group's innovative new chamber musical explores the Southern California experience over the course of several decades through the eyes of a Mexican-American man growing up in Carlsbad and a San Diego woman whose chance encounters with Mexican immigrants mark the moments that define her life. Directed by multiple Tony-nominee Graciela Daniele, Los Otros stars Tony-winner Michelle Pawk (Hollywood Arms, Hairspray, Cabaret) and Broadway veteran Julio Monge (Twelfth Night, The Capeman, Fosse). Another pair of acclaimed Tony nominees, Ellen Fitzhugh (Paper Moon, Grind) and Michael John LaChiusa (The Wild Party), crafted the book, lyrics and score, highlighted by its intimate song cycles. I had high expectations regarding this play and ended up not liking the script very much. The two leads were quite good however.Written on May 22 2006

Although the tickets were 1/2 price, they still were supposed to be in the top price category. Our seats were second row from the back and very stage left - not exactly prime location. As it turned out, the play was performed center stage so we were able to see all the action. I would have been less embarassed (I brought a friend and told him these looked like great seats - wrong) if the tickets were better identified (if not by exact location, at least by general area).Written on May 01 2006

- "An explosive and resonant play by Israel's foremost playwright." --Playbill
Description

Written by Joshua Sobol
Adapted by Barry Edelstein
Directed by Barry Edelstein

iWitness takes us inside the mind, dreams and memories of Franz Jagerstatter, an Austrian Catholic farmer persecuted in Berlin in 1943 by the Nazis for his refusal to serve in the army of the Third Reich. He stood instead “in solitary witness” to peace.
In its premiere in Tel Aviv, iWitness caused an uproar as it formed a bridge to the issues of “refuseniks,” Israeli soldiers who refuse to participate in the deployments in occupied Palestinian territories.
An explosive and resonant play, it questions our current understanding and acceptance of war, and illustrates the social pressure citizens of every nation feel to support their government’s involvement in wars.
Israel’s foremost playwright, Joshua Sobol, has written more than 40 plays. His critically acclaimed Ghetto received its American premiere at the Mark Taper Forum in 1986.
