"Half the Sky" is not nearly enough room for the big, expressive sound of Vox Femina, the city's premier female chorus. Join the group as it completes its latest concert cycle with Half the Sky: Hear Our Voices at Zipper Concert Hall. Inspired by Half the Sky, a powerful book by Pulitzer winners Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, the chorus has put together a stirring program of North American originals, from spirituals to rousing civil rights anthems. A few special pieces will be performed with the young women of Mira Costa High School -- the next generation of female singing talent. Finally, the women of Vox will give "voice" to their own experiences with an original commission: Acclaimed composer Jenni Brandon has set the words of individual chorus members to her moving composition "We Are Home." What a great evening. Arrived to hear another fantastic lecture by Mr. Conlon. The
performance was amazing. The cast and orchestra presented a great performance; James Conlon is a LA treasure. It was particularly special to hear and see an opera
that I did not know and had not seen.
