A whirlwind trip through 33 films about Jesus Christ interspersed with the confessions of the secular, humanist, non-practicing Jewish movie zealot who watched them all, Jesus Ride is a rollicking multimedia solo performance by Mike Schlitt. Part movie history, part personal odyssey, the performance traces the origins of the rabbi who became the father of modern Christianity from his first appearance on the written page to his most recent cinematic incarnations. Winner of "Outstanding Solo Show" at the New York Fringe Festival, Jesus Ride is a hilarious story featuring two protagonists -- one the son of God, the other, the son of a TV writer.

Mike shared with us his own movie-making experiences, comparing & contrasting them to Jesus & those movies made about him ! No small task - but honest & thought-provoking, whether you were Christian or Jew, or neither ! Small space adds to the enjoyment & good work with the projected images as well. Only negative was trouble finding street parking as neighborhood is totally residential.

I attended the 4/20/12 performance. This is a wonderful evening of theater - Mike Schlitt is a brilliant and clever storyteller. His interwoven tale of a the making of 'his' Jesus movie, contrasted with his perspective of 'Jesus' movies; and shared with the perspective of a middle-aged man struggling his relationship with his father had me feeling completely related with this man.

You will feel it too - and while you don't have to be Jewish, you'll see yourself if you are... Mike, thanks for the popcorn - great touch!

BTW - get there as early as you can. I found the street parking situation to be quite challenging, bordering on frustrating in this neighborhood.

An incredible one-man show where the writer/actor takes us on a wonderful journey through his personal experience of Jesus through film and life. The show is clever, subtle and funny, with an incredible performance by the writer himself. Highly recommended for those who appreciate their humor delivered with a dose of history, trivia, and philosophy.
