Cuentos y Leyendas de México takes some of the most popular Mexican folk tales, bedtime stories and legends and transforms them into sensational dance works. Throughout this dance-filled evening presented under the stars at Ford Amphitheatre, youth dance company Resurrección Mexican Folk will use traditional dance to bring the ancestral stories of eight different regions of México to dazzling life. Told through the eyes of a child, these timeless tales -- full of colorful characters and unforgettable imagery -- have been passed down from generation to generation over the past 400 years. Captive parking. $12.00. Considering most L.A. parking fees are pretty reasonable, even the Chandler Pavilion UCLA has a lot of nerve charging for that charge for parking off-hours in what is largely an empty lot.Tune-In Festival L.A.: eighth blackbird travel • Mar 31 2014 star this tip starred
Born in Paris in 1962,* Jérôme Bel* studied at the Centre National de Dance Contemporaine of Angers and went on to dance for myriad choreographers in France and Italy. He is a significant figure in a group of contemporary European choreographers who question the fundamental parameters of their own practice—and of choreography in general.
Bel is acclaimed for a unique provocation to strip away all stage artifice in an effort to create a more honest connection between the watchers and performers. His conceptual work is focused on altering expectations and his productions are legendary for stretching the boundaries of the philosophical underpinnings of dance.
