Last year, the multiplatinum-selling Barenaked Ladies took their rollicking roadshow, Last Summer on Earth, on tour, packing more than 30 arenas and amphitheaters with near sold-out crowds. Back by popular demand in 2013, the Ladies will be joined by pop trio Ben Folds Five, acoustic-pop threesome Guster and special guest Boothby Graffoe for their stop at The Greek Theatre. Barenaked Ladies are celebrating their 25th anniversary and a career that includes eight Juno Awards, multiple Grammy nominations and more than 14 million albums sold worldwide. Jam along to the latest songs from their recent release, Grinning Streak, and their biggest hits, including their No. 1 tune "One Week," "Pinch Me," "Brian Wilson," "If I Had $1,000,000" and the theme song to the TV series The Big Bang Theory. view more less of this reviewThanks to Goldstar we weren't too unhappy; it made for a pleasant couple of hours (good food, vendors, music) but if we had paid the full $20+ retail we would have been quite disgruntled.
star this review starred report as inappropriateA small street festival that included food trucks (delicious!), vendors (I bought a very cute necklace!), and musical entertainment (good music). I also won a shirt from the Pepsi truck! So yes, I had fun! But I'm glad I didn't pay full price for the tickets. In fact, they should be less. It's not a very ig street festival. Heck, even the farmers market in Monrovia is bigger!
star this review starred report as inappropriateMy expectations may negatively have influenced my rating. The "festival" was about a city block long, and felt more like a neighborhood block party than a festival. Pros: well-organized, eco-friendly, open mic readings, and great music on the KCRW stage. Cons: too small to make it interesting, food trucks varied quite a bit in quality, no hand washing near the porta potties (beyond gross!).
star this review starred report as inappropriateEvent only had two musical venues, at either end of the blocked off street. One act was pretty bad; the other stage had a very long transition between acts. In between were a lot of vendors selling stuff, some good, some kitsch. Plus food trucks. You can find a better selection of food trucks at the First Friday event in Venice on Abbott Kinney for free. Did have ample honey buckets and one water station, but not sure what we paid for. If you're a resident of the neighborhood maybe fun, but otherwise it was just a "fair" that was hard to get too and should have been free to attend. Would not recommend.
