My friend and I have been following KT since before she was big. We have photos with her at a Tower Records when no one knew her name. To be able to see her FOR FREE at the Wiltern years later through Goldstar was one of the best opportunities EVER, since I highly doubt she'll be returning to record stores for 20 person campfire singalongs anytime soon.

KT was incredible. Her second album is very different from her first, less raw, more studio, but still original, refreshing, and completely KT. She found the perfect balance of singing new songs from that new album, and still pleasing the loyal fans with her classics, opening the show with Miniature Disaster, but also getting in Cherry Tree, Suddenly I See, Under the Weather, and others. We loved every minute of the show. She even had awesome props and made the stage feel really Western, with an orange desert sky backdrop, rocking chairs, and wooden owls and horses standing on speakers and instruments. She had hilarious, witty commentary between songs, and everyone in her band was exceptional. All in all, a perfect evening of live entertainment.

More Details About This Event:

After a sold-out show at Avalon last year, KT Tunstall will be back in L.A. performing at The Wiltern. Tunstall burst onto the scene in 2006 with her gritty debut album, Eye to the Telescope, which spawned three hit singles: the Grammy-Award nominated “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree,” “Suddenly I See” and “Other Side of the World.” Fueled by these tracks and multimedia exposure, Eye was certified platinum in the U.S. with worldwide sales exceeding 3.5 million copies. Tunstall’s follow up to Eye, Drastic Fantastic, was released by Virgin Records in September 2007. It showcases the 31-year-old’s growth as both a songwriter and musician on songs like the thumping “Hold On,” the rollicking “Saving My Face,” the jazz-inflected “Someday Soon” and the frisky pop gem “I Don’t Want You Now.”  “I wanted to be braver,” Tunstall says of the album. “I wanted to push the musicality. You can’t let previous success scare you away from moving on.” Tunstall’s formula for her latest album proved to be a success as Drastic Fantastic debuted at #9 on the Top 200 album chart with “Hold On” hitting #1 in the AAA single format.

Patrick "Paddy" Casey is an Irish singer-songwriter from Dublin. From an early age he spent a great deal of his time learning his craft by busking on the streets of Dublin and Galway. Casey was discovered while performing at the International Bar in Dublin. His music appeals to a wide audience, with soulful grooves and catchy hooks. His first album Amen (So Be It), released in 1999, was certified double platinum. His influences include Bob Marley, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. His subsequent albums have seen Casey rise to prominence as a gifted and intensely focused singer songwriter. He received nominations for Best Irish Songwriter and Best Male Singer at the prestigious Hot Press Awards. Hot Press readers themselves voted the album Best Debut Album, as well as voting Paddy the year’s Most Promising Act and nominating him in seven other end-of-the-year categories. Intense touring saw Casey providing support to artists like R.E.M., Ian Brown, Ani DiFranco and The Pretenders.

About The Wiltern:

The Wiltern Theatre first opened its doors to movie crowds on October 7th, 1931, as the Warner Theatre - a part of the Warner Brothers chain of first-run theaters. It later was re-named The Wiltern - after its location at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue. Recognized by the City of Los Angeles as a Historic Cultural Monument and placed on the National Register of Historic Places, this Art Deco Landmark was saved from the wrecking ball by the efforts of the Los Angeles Conservancy and was renovated and restored to its original splendor in 1985 by the Ratkovich Company, opening under the direction of Bill Graham Presents.

Following a legendary history of performances and events, a $1.5 million facelift led to the Grand Re-Opening on October 15, 2002. Formerly an all-seated venue, the theatre had its 1,200-orchestra level seats removed and now features a five-tiered floor that rises upward from the stage, thereby accommodating every type of audience, from a standing-room-only configuration to banquet-style seated events. The balcony still offers a thousand permanent seats, and the flexible new arrangement allows for seats to be brought in to the floor section downstairs for more intimate performances. The venue's new capacity is roughly 2,300, depending on how the main floor level is arranged.
