A large but manageable overview of LA and some International art dealers. Lots of crazy stuff, but like everyone I can always find a few things I can love, if not afford.

$12 parking at the LA Convention Center is no fun though.

This was the first time I came to this show. I really like it. It was quite a high-quality show with pricy artwork, which I didn't really expect (the pricy part). I was glad to see 70%+ of the work on dislay being comtemporary ones. A lot of them a very good - but none are striking enough for me to want to take it home (disregarding the price factor, just based on taste). And that is the reason for the 1 missing star from my rating. I will definitely go there again next year but will also adjust my expectation based on my experience.

I attended this show for the first time and was impressed with the amount of artwork that was made available for viewing/purchasing. Truly a great opportunity to collectively see where we are in the art world. Viewed various pieces that not only inspired, but were also truly moving. Great show! One thing, make sure you bring comfortable shoes (you'll be doing a lot of walking).

For art lovers, what could be better than over a 100 galleries under one roof? Even though the tendency was to err on the commercial and inoffensive side, the quality of the art is high. Prices seemed within reason. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk endlessly. Some gallery owners were open to chatting about their artists and the art world on Thurs. evening, given the light crowd. Meanwhile, only one unexciting snack bar was open to the public. Concession choices may improve for the weekend crowd.

It was ok, but had a lot of pricey art. I was thinking that it, would be something smaller. With booths and little gift stands to buy affordable pieces. But boy was i wrong, yet some of the seller had good customer service. The other's just sat on their behinds and worked on their computers.

It was a wonderful event and I'll definitely be looking forward to the show next year. The quality and variety of the art was impressive. My friend and I got the name of many galleries around town so that we can see more of the terrific are they display. I liked the arrangement of the displays. With the exception of a few crammed exhibits, the vast majority were well spaced for easy viewing. The only negative was the parking.

My husband and I went to this event for the first time this year and were very impressed by the quality and variety of art works on display. We appreciate the convenience of sampling a large number of galleries in one location, and will definitely return next year.

The L.A. Art Show never disappoints me. As an art teacher, I always enjoy seeing works by famous painters and learning about new, up and coming artists. The L.A. Convention Center location allowed my husband and I to travel on the metro red and blue lines which was much cheaper than parking. The past several shows had been at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica which was not as convenient. I hope the Show continues at the L.A. Convention Center in the future.

There were a lot of amazing artworks from galleries all over the country. It was well worth the time and a great opportunity to see so many styles of contemporary and classic artworks up close. Most impressive were the works by contemporary Chinese artists.

Exceptional pieces of art, high caliber show. A little disappointed though not see more affordable pieces as most of them were master pieces valued at several tens of thousand of dollars and beyond. I'll go back next year with the hope to be tempted by way more works of art at around 10'000 and under by younger but talented artists.

The exhibit had more modern art than I thought. I am not a big fan of modern, however, I did see a few pieces i liked. The exhibit was well organized and quite a few Obama art pieces!! Parking lot fee of $20 too much and unfortunatley Stanford Univ had an event the same day which backed up traffic to the lot. I loved that Goldstar offered these tix for half off..very easy to pick up at will call.

This was such a fun and amazing event. It featured galleries and artists from all over the world - although there were a lot of local galleries present too.

I haven't had the time to explore the local art scene and this was a great way to check out the different galleries and new artists so I can go by later on my own time.

It also looked like a lot of the artists were selling out of their work so it is a great investment opportunity too!

This show gave a excellent overview of some great galleries. Much less crowded than last year's show at Barker Hanger. It's good enough to take your time, enjoy and make 2 trips. There's even better food than usual (salads, sandwiches-$7-9) and a reliable Starbucks -so easy to make a day - and evening - of it! Or even two leisurely trips.

I had a great time. Luckily I have someone in my life who enjoys looking at art as much as I do. My only complaint is that it was so hot in there! Other than that I enjoyed walking around to see each artists' piece of work and guessing how much each piece was worth. I would definitely like to come back next time. One suggestion may be to lower ticket prices. Places like Bergomat Station and LACMA are free and they're just as great.

This show had a great variety of work, from the traditional masters to the incomprehensible. Almost all the dealers seemed more interested in tapping on their laptops than interacting with the patrons...that was fine with me, because the work was all on the very high end and not affordable for the common folk. As a artist, I did enjoy seeing the variety of work, and it gave me new inspiration. I went on Saturday, and the parking at the center was TWENTY dollars, so I parked a few blocks away and forked out ten dollars to walk in the drizzle. Next time I'll take the subway.

The show was very nice, well organized. Reading review of other people ahead, we parked two blocks down the street for free. I disagree with some people who complained on a high price of art pieces, I don’t know why they expected original art to be in a $30.00 value, it’s not a Venice walk, and I’ve seen people buying staff. Most of the representatives of galleries were pleased to talk and share their knowledge. It was a great experience to look at the different art, I think it’s a great idea to see that many galleries sharing their pieces under one roof. I’d definitely go there next year, I hope Goldstar will have tickets again.

I attended as a "window shopper." If you like viewing art for the fun and interest, it is a great place to do so. There is an extensive amount of high quality art. You could spend a whole day there, but it is tiring. We didn't stay too long and it ended up being quite an expensive day (goldstar ticket which is fairly priced, but with additional parking for $12 and pricey food - the day added up quickly).

This event was an art show where all pieces were for sale. The show itself had a large amount of artwork by a variety of artists. The artwork displayed was done by established artists and the sale prices reflected this; therefore, generally you had to be a millionaire to make any purchases. So, for the average person, it was like going to a small art museum with no intent to make any purchases. At least half of the artwork displayed was modern art, so if you have a strong dislike for this, it probably isn't worth you going to this event. One criticism of the display, is the way it was setup made you dizzy walking through.

Wow -- We spent 4 solid hours there and did not repeat any of what we viewed. Astounded by how many of the great masters' work were being shown. Plus wide-wide variety of modern art. Truly enjoyed the event. VERY glad we wore comfortable shoes. Pricing ranged (that I saw) from $1,000 - $500,000. Most of the art being sold on the high side. Only down-side: ridiculous prices for very crummy food. Eat First and bring your own water!

There were not enough snack bars and food wasn't very interesting. Also, the rest rooms near the snack bar were abominable.

It was nice to see art from different galleries. There was an awesome gallery that showed. They were originally from Louisiana with a lot of witty commentary within the works. It's definitely not a place to buy prints for 30 dollars. A lot of the works were original prints and paintings that were going for thousands of dollars. Not a low key event by any means, but enjoyable nonetheless. I didn't spend the whole day there. It was more like a casual walk through and I was out in about 2 hours. Parking cost as much as my ticket.

The art show was pretty cool--there were a lot of new artists I had never heard of and many of them were hanging around their pieces so you could chat with them about the artwork and/or life, the universe, and everything. It was definitely the most subdued event I've ever been to at the Convention Center, and I couldn't afford to buy any of the pieces, but I think it was well worth it for someone like me who doesn't follow the art world to see the path its gone since I haven't been paying attention. You don't need to stay too long, but well worth the money spent. (Oh and don't take photos. There were no photos allowed but yet some people were still taking photos... that can ruin the art!)

The Fine Art Dealers Association (FADA) and KR Martindale Show Management are pleased to announce the leap of the Los Angeles Art Show (LA Art Show) to the Los Angeles Convention Center beginning with the 2009 show. Now in its 14th year, the move will nearly double the size of the LA Art Show and increase the number of international galleries exhibiting. With 2008 exhibition figures exceeding 30,000 visitors and achieving record-setting multi-million dollar art sales, the 2009 fair promises to be the most innovative and eclectic show to date. According to show producer, Kim Martindale, "Los Angeles is a destination for art. The well-established Los Angeles Art Scene is diverse and continuing to expand both in the number of galleries and collectors locally and internationally situated. The Los Angeles Art Show's move to the LA Convention Center mirrors this growth."

The IFPDA's 24th Annual Los Angeles Fine Print Fair will accompany the Los Angeles Art Show at this new location. With more than 15,000 significant paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings and prints on display and available for purchase, the LA Art Show brings together the Los Angeles art community at this apex event. Los Angeles' distinction as a world-renowned center for art has increased in prominence over the last decade, characterizing the region as a vibrant cultural arena with an enthusiastic art collecting market. It is within this exciting environment that the Los Angeles Art Show has developed and attained its reputation as the most important encyclopedic art fair in North America. The works presented at the Los Angeles Art Show have been vetted for authenticity and represent a select group of the world's top galleries.
