Louis & Keely: Live at the Sahara is an original musical inspired by the ill-fated love story of two musicians at the height of the Vegas lounge act in the 1950s and '60s. Based on true events, the play begins at the end of Louis’s life. After an unsuccessful brain surgery, this once-dynamic stage personality is left in a conscious coma—and his life’s hopes and regrets inevitably come calling. The play focuses on Louis’s inner turmoil as he struggles to come to terms with the most difficult decision he ever had to make: choosing music over his only chance at true love. The story jumps back to the day he met Keely, and follows the evolution of the act, the relationship between the partners-turned-lovers, their success and their eventual divorce, as well as the dissolution of what became the most popular act in a Las Vegas casino. Louis & Keely: Live at the Sahara examines the hardship of every artist that sacrifices a normal existence for their life’s passion, but also celebrates the music and the fun that made Louis and Keely a hard act to follow. Popular standards in the show include “That Old Black Magic,” “Come Rain or Come Shine” and “Just a Gigolo.”
