After the Fall: Rarely Produced Classic by Arthur Miller from HumanArts Theater Company

Full Price:
$25.00
Our Price:
$12.50

Based on the playwright's life and considered one of Arthur Miller's most personal plays, After The Fall follows a man on his quest to make peace with his own history and with the tumultuous world around him. This experimental portrait of a man struggling with the choices he has made in his public and private life examines the personal, political and universal forces that collide when we "fall" from innocence. Following the death of his second wife, Quentin tries to move forward, but he must also relive childhood losses, failed marriages and the effects of the 1950s' Blacklist. This rarely produced classic is presented by the HumanArts Theater Company. Learn More

Enjoyed it and was facinated by the similarities and difference in the definition of love expressed in the storyline. Taking into account different cultures and periods. Was well entertain. I stronly urge those who are seeking Placido Domingo level of singing to pay the $100 + at the music center. But if you want to be entertained and see what a zarsuela is all about see "Luisa".

I had much expectations of this Musical, or Opera.Although, i admire the whole casts, but the story and the way it was telling, was a little childish and kind ofa High School play. The lady who played Luisa Fernanda was not matched at all and was old for that role, i think the lady who played Dusches was much matched for Luisa.Actually the LOVE was lost in this musical.

Enven though I can't understand Spanish, the sub-title is very helpful. The music was very good, the costume was very beautiful.

I was so pleased to have the opportunity to attend a zarzuela performance in LA. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the orchestra, directing, staging, and overall performance. Vicente Solbes and Renee Rulon Cortez have glorious voices and did justice vocally to the roles they played. I would love to hear them perform again and will watch for the opportunity!

Description

Love! Rivalry! Politics! Federico Moreno Torroba's 1932 zarzuela (a Spanish musical that blends the brilliance of Broadway with the passion of opera) is filled with romance, comedy and stirring music, which is sung in Spanish but will be presented with English supertitles.

Luisa Fernanda, one of the last great romantic zarzuelas, became popular to the Spanish culture and reached highest popularity during the nineteenth century. In the beginning of the twentieth century great zarzuelas were written, and among them is Luisa Fernanda, which up to this date is the most performed. Luisa Fernanda is a love story told within the time of the popular 1868 uprising against the Queen of Spain. The themes relate to the universal desire for democracy; this was the first time in Spanish history that the people spoke out against their monarchy and demanded a government that spoke for the people. This story is very relevant to today's society and is told beautifully through traditional Zarzuela style
